Chapter 36 Won’t you feel embarrassed?
When Mr. and Mrs. Stuart come back, the house is quiet.
“Sir, madam, you are back.” The butler comes and says in a low voice.
Mrs. Stuart asks, “Rachel hasn’t come home today?
The butler glances upstairs, “The young lady came back, but she seemed unhappy, and locked herself
in her bedroom, not looking very well.”
Mrs. Stuart hears and wants to go to her bedroom to look at her.
“I have to ask the girl what's the matter. Anything happened with Thomas Grey?”
“Madam…” the butler says, “it’s not convenient now.” the butler coughs, “Mr. Grey comes over not long
after the young lady goes in.”
Mrs. Stuart is stunned.
Mr. Stuart sighs and sits aside to read newspaper.
It's supposed to be nothing.
“Don't worry, it's just a little quarrel. It's not a big deal. It's not bad to have a little quarrel now, so they
won't have to fight again after they get married...you know our daughter's temper. If that girl finds out
that she and Thomas Grey are not right for each other and she wants to get divorce. That will be a big
trouble.”
“How could I don’t worry about her. Are you not worried? You must have seen what Tommy has done
these days. Isn't he doing everything he can for Rachel? And if they still have a quarrel, it must
because of Rachel.”
Mr. Stuart doesn’t retort, because he agrees with her.
“How long have they been up there?” Mrs. Stuart asks the butler.
The butler looks at the clock, “It has almost been two hours.”
Mrs. Stuart stares, “Two hours? Did you hear any noise? Did Rachel cry?”
The butler shakes his head, “no, madam.”

Mr. Stuart looks at Mrs. Stuart and feels helpless, “Well, I don’t think you should go there at this time.
They are all in their 20s. If you run into something, won’t you feel embarrassed?”
“You old man, stop saying nonsense!”
“Don't say I didn't warn you; the children have grown up. It’s not impossible for them to do something.”
Mr. Stuart puts aside his newspaper and looks up the stairs, “Besides, you know our daughter’s
temper. If she really gets angry and has a severe fight with Thomas Grey, she wouldn’t let him into her
room. And what can they talk about in a room for so long like two ours?”
“What if…”
“What if they want something to happen and you interrupt them as soon as you get in...” Mr. Stuart
doesn’t finish his words and makes Mrs. Stuart feel it for herself.
Mrs. Stuart wants to go up to see what’s happening between Rachel Stuart and Thomas Grey, but
hearing what Mr. Stuart said, it’s inappropriate if she just goes up without thinking.
“I...” After a while, Mrs. Stuart sits down, “Well, I'll wait. Maybe they'll come down soon.”
As soon as Mrs. Stuart sits down, there is a noise on the stairs.
“Dad, mom, you are back.” Rachel Stuart is standing on the spiral stairs.
Mrs. Stuart stands up immediately, “...How are you doing? Is there anything wrong?”
