How It Really Happened
“Please Michael. Don’t do this. I’ll leave New York City and I will not look back. I will leave right now and I will not be greedy. Please. Just please…” I pleaded
“Let him go.” He ordered those holding me. “Untie him also.”
They got to work losing the ropes that were used to tie me up. I flexed my arms as the blood started circulating back.
“Excuse us.” He told his men and they all stepped out. “Come on Alexander. Come sit over here.”
“I have no hard feelings towards you man but I know who my boss is and he is the only one I follow.” Michael said as I took my seat in front of him.
“I will explain some few things to you Alexander and I want you to listen to me carefully. It will help you as you leave.
Michael took the next 20 minutes explaining certain things to me and
“Don’t be a douchebag and get your life straight. Okay? He rounded up. “You can leave now. You will be dropped outside where you will find a taxi waiting already. It is ready to take you anywhere you want outside New York. You will find some necessities in the taxi also. I hope we don’t see anymore.”
He signaled to his men and they came back inside. One of them held out a cloth to me. I stood up and took it from and blindfolded myself and they led me out.
As I was being led out, my mind drifted to the meetings I had with Michael that eventually led me here
Alexander Pierce POV
After my first meeting with Robert Thorton, I went back home feeling happy. At long last, my ambition of living a life of wealth and power is about to be fulfilled.
I got a call from Michael when I got back home. I picked up the phone at first ring
“Hello, Michael,” I said to him
“How did it go, Alex?” he asked me in a matter of fact way
“Just as planned. He was skeptical at first then he told me that he will get back to me” I said
“I hope you did not agree to that” he asked with a baritone voice
“If I were that foolish and naive, I would not have come this far.” I said
“Okay. Has he sent the necessary documents to you yet?” he asked me
“Not yet but I am sure he will do that first thing tomorrow morning. ” I said to him.
“You better make sure he sends those documents to you because you do not have as much time as you think you do,” he said to me.
I truly considered what he said because we do not have all the time in the world. This is truly a race against time and I seem to be moving in the opposite direction of the tide.
“I know Michael and this is why I am not leaving any stone unturned” I replied.
“You better do not think of doing that except you want to fail” he said to me
“I will not fail” I said to him
“it is easier said than done” he replied
“trust me” I replied
“one more thing” he said
“what is it” I replied
“Like I told you before, do not harm any member of that family. Get what you want and leave them to their fate” he said to me
“I have heard you” I replied before he hung up the call. Why does he go on and on about not hurting any member of the family? I might be a thug but not a murderer.
But that aside, at last I will be a billionaire. I smiled inwardly. The time has indeed come.
I dropped the phone and went to the freezer to check if I had anything to eat. I brought out the box of pizza I bought yesterday. I should still have 2-3 slices left. I took a can of coca cola and went to sit on the only high chair in the apartment.
It was the cheapest apartment I saw on the market and it serves the basic amenities. That is all I need and besides in two days time, I should be swimming in money.
My phone alerted me to a new message. I stood up and picked it up from the bed. I opened my mail and there it was.
The mail from Thornton Construction which contains all the files I needed.
I scanned through it to confirm that all the documents I requested were available. I smiled widely because finally, I will have the chance to taste real wealth.
Just then, I got a call from an unknown number. I picked up the call and kept silent for a while before a voice spoke up from the other end.
“Hello Mr. Pierce. This is Lucas from Thornton’s construction. ” the masculine voice said.
“Yes.” I replied.
“I would like to confirm if you received any mail from Thornton Construction containing some important documents?” Lucas asked.
“Yes, I did,” I replied.
“OK, we appreciate you for your efforts and we will appreciate it if we can get feedback from you soon.” Lucas said.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
I was confused about what to say to him so I simply hung up the call.
I decided to call Michael immediately so I can know the next line of action since he was the one who initiated the idea.
I picked up my phone and dialed his number. He picked my call on the first ring.
“Why did you call me back again?” he asked rudely, obviously in a bid to scare me and give me the impression that he is not to be toyed with.
“I just got a letter from Thornton Construction,” I said to him.
“That is good news.” he said to me, sounding happy for the first time. At that moment, I became worried about what he hopes to achieve from all these. He never voiced his intentions about what he really wants or wants he aims to achieve.
