A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married

Chapter 40 Blind Date

Chapter 40 Blind Date

Gloria kept a close watch on Hendrix all the time. He had no choice but to drive his sister to the place

where the blind date was arranged today.

Before Everly got out of the car, Hendrix said thoughtfully, "If you really don't like it, it's okay. Just call

me."

"I see. You're even more nervous than me."

"How about your work in Lamont Group?"

"Very good."

Hendrix said, "I forgot to tell you last time. Your ex-boyfriend, Lucas, also works in Lamont Group. Have

you met him?"

Everly nodded.

Hendrix felt relieved when he saw that his sister was calm and didn't seem to be unhappy. "You can't

avoid meeting him, so I didn't tell you in advance. He has been in Lamont Group all these years. I have

met him occasionally, but I don't have much communication with him. There's no need to waste any

effort on such an irresponsible man."

Back then, such things happened to Everly, so she left City C.

Actually, Hendrix had someone secretly beat Lucas up several times, but he did not tell his sister.

Later, Lawrence, Hendrix's brother, came to intercede for him, so he stopped.

When Lucas had just graduated from university, he had betrayed his girlfriend, Hendrix's sister. Hendrix Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

had also taught him a lesson. He didn't care about who he was. Since Lucas did those things to his

sister like that, he was by no means a good person. From an ordinary family, Hendrix reached such a

position today. How could he possibly be a simple man?

Later, when Lucas went to work and just started running his business, Hendrix had someone beat him

several times.

Lucas knew that it was Hendrix who ordered them and said that he was a rogue bandit.

Later on, Lucas did not expect that.

A rogue bandit, but in five years, made far more achievements than him.

"Hendrix, are you still worried about me? Edmond is already five-year-old. To be honest, if I didn't

encounter him, I almost forgot about him."

Everly looked at the time and said, "You can go back. I'll take a taxi myself later."

Hendrix did have something else to do this afternoon. "You should drive on you own. I have a few cars

in the garage. Go get your driver's license."

It would be convenient for her to go to and from work. So Everly answered yes.

After getting out of the car, she glanced at the restaurant.

In order to bring Edmond out for meal, she had checked the good high-end restaurants in City C. This

restaurant was quite expensive.

However, Gloria said that that man ... seemed to be a young genius or something.

Everly had some resistance to blind dates, but now, she wanted to give it a try.

She looked around the restaurant and soon saw a man who looked similar to the photo she had seen

at the French window. Everly used to solicit for investment and had a lot of contact with men, so she

was quite outgoing.

"Is that Mr. Stanley?" she went over.

The man raised his head. He had good facial features and was rather gentle. He might be an office

man, so he was dressed in a refined manner.

He probably recognized Everly and quickly stood up, "Miss Everly?"

"Hello."

When Everly sat down, the two of them greeted each other. Stanley asked her to order first, "I heard

that Miss Everly has just returned from the United States?"

Everly casually ordered something to eat and replied, "Yes, I just came back not long ago."

"Are you working for Lamont Group now?"

It seemed that Everly's Mother had introduce her in detail.

Everly said, "Yes, I was at LAL before, but it was bought by Lamont Group."

"Which department are you from?"

Everly thought for a moment and felt that there was no need to hide. She directly said, "Secretary to

the President."

The man was obviously a little shocked, "You mean, Lamont Group, Maverick's secretary?"

The corner of Everly's mouth twitched. "Yes," she said. She felt that everyone had overreacted when

they heard she was Maverick's secretary?

No matter how capable Maverick was, he still needed a secretary.

Very quickly, Everly felt that Stanley was very kind towards her. They ordered steak. He even helped

her cut the steak very gentlemanly and asked her a lot about the company.

Halfway through her meal, Everly found the date completely dull.

She didn't know why, but she always felt that this man wasn't here for a blind date. He was asking

about the company most of the time.

His topic was centered on Lamont Group.

Then the man suggested watching a movie or something. Everly really wasn't interested at all. She

refused on the pretext of having to go on a business trip tomorrow.

When Stanley heard that she was going on a business trip, he immediately asked, "Are you going on a

business trip with Mr. Maverick?"

Everly didn't want to answer him.

"I can't say much about the company, so I'll leave."

Stanley was awkward and suggested that he would drive her home. Everly didn't want to be questioned

along the way.

She refused politely, and the man did not force her anymore.

Perhaps he felt that this was the first time they had met.

However, Everly still exchanged phone numbers with him at his request.

She didn't really want to save his number, but Gloria would definitely give him her number. So, she

saved it and added a note.

When she got home, it was still early. Gloria was playing Lego with Edmond. When she saw Everly

coming back, she was a little surprised.

"So early? Have you seen him?"

Everly felt tired and says, "Mom, I'll go take a shower first."

"Hey, wait, how is he?" Gloria hurriedly chased after her and asked.

Everly looked at her son who was focused on playing Lego and went to the kitchen to pour a glass of

water before whispering, "Just so so."

"You don't like him?"

"Mom, we just met and had a meal. It's too early to ask me if I like him. Although I've been in the United

States for five years, I'm not that open."

"It's fine. If you don't like him, I will introduce others to you..."

Gloria knew that her daughter disliked that person. She became more determined to introduce others.

When she was about to pull out her phone, Edmond ran over and tugged at her sleeve. "Why did you

introduce others to Mommy? I know a handsome uncle here, and no one else can compare with him."

Gloria's eyes lit up, "Handsome uncle? Where did you know him?"

Edmond was small, but he was very talkative. "I knew him before. He gave me the expensive model I

had in my room. He was handsome, and his work was very good. He was a good match for Mommy.

Grandma, don't introduce others to Mommy. This one is OK. If anyone wants to be my daddy, he

should be handsome."

Everly chocked on the water.

Her heart pounded. Only she knew that this handsome uncle that her son was referring to was her

immediate superior.

Edmond wanted to say something else, but, Everly's phone rang.

She hurriedly put down the cup and ran out of the kitchen. When she took out her phone, the caller's

number was really ... It was Maverick!

Maverick's name was on the screen of her phone, dancing without restraint.

Everly had to answer, "... Mr. Maverick." She lowered her voice a little, "Is there anything wrong with

you at this late hour?"
