chapter 73 Just short of money
chapter 73 Just short of money
"Please find a way to make Zachary care for Old Mr. Si personally,"
Olivia spoke as she leaned against the chair while narrowing her eyes.
"Huh?" Xavier was puzzled.
Olivia grinned. "Just do as I said."
What else could Xavier say? He nodded. "Noted!"
But Olivia didn't let Xavier the hook so quickly. "You're related to the Si Family of Jing Cheng? How many other identities do you have that I don't know yet?"
Xavier knew Olivia would definitely ask him this question.
He smiled helplessly. "I'll explain this to you slowly when I have the chance, okay?"
"It's up to you," Olivia replied nonchalantly.
Xavier was inexplicably unnerved by her response. "It's not that I don't want to tell you. It's just that things are a bit complicated and I haven't figured it out yet."
She could only give him an "Okay" gesture before closing her eyes and rest. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Olivia hated it when other people schemed against each other.
A trip to the Si Family to watch them conspiring against each other had consumed her energy and made her more exhausted than it did when she jogged for 3 miles.
Seeing that she was tired, Xavier didn't say much and quietly drove Olivia back to the villa to rest.
Olivia woke up from her nap in the late afternoon and made a call.
The person who picked up her call was an older adult. He demanded, "Wow. Did the pigs fly? Why did you call me?"
Olivia smiled mischievously. "I'm here at Jing Cheng and I miss you!"
The other party suddenly became alert. "What are you trying to say?"
"I haven't seen you for many years. I'll go and visit you soon, master!"
After hanging up the phone, Olivia got up and tidied up. Seeing that Xavier was not at home, Olivia left a note at the entrance and left.
She rented a car and headed to the outskirts of Jing Cheng. After more than two hours of journey, the vehicle stopped beneath a valley.
Parking the car in a villa, Olivia walked through the villa's backyard. After a few twists and turns along the way and passing several mountain arches, she arrived at a paradise-like place full of flowers in the valley.
It was her destination, known as the Medicine Valley.
The place where her master and the valley owner, Gerald Yao, stayed.
As soon as Olivia passed through the door covered with rattan, an oversized Tibetan mastiff flew toward her, pinned her onto the ground excitedly, and let out a howl.
Then, the dog lowered his head, licking Olivia's face and hands relentlessly.
Olivia, whose face was covered in saliva, couldn't help but scream wildly, "Diana, you stinky dog. I'll cook you!"
Diane bit her tail aggrievedly, raised her head, and protested. "Awooo!"
The dog missed Olivia's presence very much.
Olivia took the opportunity to get up, grabbed the mane on the big dog's neck, and shouted fiercely, "Enough! If you lick me again, I'll cook and eat you!"
Olivia had quick reflexes and movements, but she would always be defeated by the speedier reaction of this dog that was trained by her personally.
"Maybe I don't really hate her that much. I just can't stand her overenthusiasm!" Olivia thought.
"You're a horrible one! You didn't visit me for so many years, and the moment you returned, you want to cook my dog! Do you want me to end you?" A frustrated voice shouted from the inside of the cozy-looking house ahead of Olivia.
Olivia touched her nose, took a wet wipe to clean her face, and said, "Come on. If you are so capable, I won't have to run around doing all these hard works."
"Do you think I'm incompetent?! Don't forget I taught you all those medical skills!" The white-haired, shabby-robe-wearing older man stood before a window, glaring at Olivia.
Olivia raised her eyebrows and smiled. "It is an inevitable thing that in every profession, the young always replaces the old. You're old now. You have to admit that I am better than you!"
"Hey, you! Do you want me to beat you up after not meeting me for so many years?" Gerald was so angry that he jumped out of the window. He chased Olivia around barefoot, wanting to beat her up.
Olivia quickly escaped and disappeared out of his sight.
And so, Gerald and Olivia chased each other in the valley. It wasn't until they got exhausted that they sprawled on the ground and made peace with each other.
"Old man, why aren't you willing to admit you're not young anymore?" Olivia tried to catch her breath. There was amusement in her eyes when she looked at Gerald, lying on the ground and panting heavily.
"I don't have to do this if you didn't disrespect me!" Even though Gerald scolded Olivia, there was a smile on his face.
After Olivia left the Medicine Valley, the place became quiet, as if it had lost all life and the world had stopped.
Now that she was back, the Medicine Valley returned to its vibrant state again.
The two bickered before supporting each other back to the house.
Seeing that Gerald had prepared a table full of her favorite dishes, waiting for her to come back, Olivia's eyes welled up. "Master, you still remember about my favorite food!"
"No. I did not. These are Diana's favourites!" Gerald refused to admit it.
Olivia mused, "Diana is a carnivore. Will she really like these salads and herbs?" Olivia smiled but did not expose Gerald's lies. She picked up the cutlery and started digging in happily.
"Didn't you say that you weren't going to get involved in the Si Family affairs?" Gerald glanced at Olivia, who was enjoying her meal.
"Well, things are different now."
"Did you do this because that man has been pestering you for the past year?"
"Yes and no!" Olivia raised her eyes and looked at the old man with a sly smile.
The old man suddenly had a bad feeling. "Speak whatever is on your mind!"
"I'm short of money." Olivia continued to eat with her head down.
The woman was being truthful. She had indeed saved a lot of money over the years, but she spent almost all her savings to treat Sofia's illness.
After all, Sofia needed a rare medicinal ingredient in her medicine to recover, and the advanced equipment Sofia needed was also costly.
Thus, Olivia spent over one billion dollars on those equipment and medicinal ingredients.
"I thought it's easy to earn money. It's only when I ran out of money do I realize that money is hard to come by!" Olivia thought.
She had a lot of research to do in the following days, and all these activities needed money. The Si Family was loaded, and she wanted to utilize this opportunity to extort money from them.
"I don't believe you." Gerald spat. "I know better than anyone else how much you've earned over the years."
"Do you know how much money I spent?" Olivia glanced at him.
Gerald was rendered speechless by her. He cursed after a while, "You are a spendthrift!"
Olivia smiled mischievously. "So, Master, I have no money now. Why don't you lend me your pill- refining furnace for a few months so I can make some money with it? Then, I'll return and repay your kindness!"
"No way! You want to trick me as soon as you come back. Just leave. Don't come back again," Gerald fumed.
Olivia hugged his arm and acted coquettishly. "Oh, I'm just borrowing it from you. It's not like I won't give it back to you. Besides, it's a waste to leave it here without anyone using it. It's a yes from you, right?"
Olivia, who was already full, put down her plate and cutlery and ran toward the dispensary.
Gerald hurriedly got up to chase after her but didn't spot her when he arrived at the dispensary.
When he came back to his senses, he found that Olivia had gone to the back of the mountain, wanting to steal the expensive medicinal herbs that he had planted for many years.
By the time Gerald got to the back of the mountain and wanted to scold Olivia, the woman sneaked back to the dispensary. She took the pill-refining furnace alongside a basketful of medicinal herbs. Then, she patted Diana's head and fled.
