Chapter 65
Chapter 65 On Purpose
"Have you seen how she smiles at these men, Sharon? She had that seductive look as if she's afraid others won't know how skilled she is at seducing people," mocked Maria, her voice dripping with disdain and jealousy.
"Miss Wilson is undeniably beautiful, and she does have the ability to drive people crazy. Let's just watch and refrain from making casual comments about others," replied Sharon softly and gently, without any aggression in her tone.
After saying that, she glanced at Quentin, observing whether he was looking at Leah again.
Quentin's expression carried a hint of indifference. However, as he observed the men's gaze on Leah, there was an inexplicable sense of dismay lurking in his heart.
He couldn't quite pinpoint the source of that feeling.
It was almost subconscious, a desire to shield Leah from the way others were leering at her.
"Quentin, what's going on with you today? It seems like you've been lost in thought the whole time." Sharon was wearing a smile on her face, but there was a hint of resentment in her eyes.
It seemed like every time she glanced over at Quentin, he was looking at Leah.
"What's going on in his mind? Could he be genuinely attracted to Leah?" she wondered.
Quentin regained his senses, his face calm and devoid of any discernible emotion, making it difficult for anyone to read his feelings.
"I'm just thinking about something minor."
He sounded nonchalant, so Sharon didn't press the matter further, and she quietly pressed her lips together, falling into silence. Meanwhile, the bidding had reached a fever pitch.
The president of a company raised the price to 500 million dollars, which was already way beyond what most could afford.
From then on, no one else dared to bid further aside from that man.
"All right, 500 million dollars, the first time."
"500 million dollars, the second time."
"500 million dollars, the third time..."
Just as everyone assumed that the man would be the successful bidder for the plot of land and the chance to dance with Leah, an attractive voice suddenly rang. "One billion dollars."
That distinctive voice belonged to Quentin, and everyone quickly recognized it.
The other president furrowed his brow, clearly displeased with Quentin's abrupt doubling of the bid.
But considering Quentin's status and
influence and the fact that he didn't have the funds for such a high
he reluctantly stopped biddinid,
and
conceded the opportunity
"All right, one billion dollars once, one billion dollars twice, one billion dollars thrice, and sold!
Congratulations to Mr. Worthington for acquiring the property of Victory Estates and the opportunity to dance with our host, Miss Wilson."
As the hostess finished speaking, soothing and melodious piano music filled the hall.
She stepped back to give way to Quentin, saying, "Mr. Worthington, please."
Quentin slowly stood up from his chair and walked toward the stage.
Maria watched the scene unfold, feeling angry and indignant on behalf of Sharon.
"Sharon, why didn't Mr. Worthington refuse? Why did he have to go up there? He loves you so much, yet he's doing this. Doesn't he worry that you'll be upset?"
Sharon thought to herself, "Quentin had never explicitly expressed how much he liked or loved me. He only kept me around because I had saved him when we were young.
Quentin would agree to most of her reasonable requests, which benefited her tremendously, earning her the admiration of many. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
However, she couldn't help but desire more after spending so much time with such an outstanding man.
She had become increasingly greedy lately, not content with just wanting their fake relationship to turn real but also desiring to possess all of Quentin.
Therefore, she was absolutely determined not to let Leah rekindle her relationship with Quentin.
