Misunderstanding
Theo rushed inside the hospital room where his mother was.
"Mom?" he gasped with surprise to see his mother healthy again.
Agatha looked at her son with emotions welling in her eyes. "Theo" she whispered.
Theo hugged his mother as his eyes filled with happiness. After his father passed away, it was his mother who raised him while holding the Morrison group from falling. After Theo took over the company, only then she relaxed. If there is a person in this world for whom he can do anything, that is him mother. She put on the shoes of both his mother and father while raising him single handedly.
"I missed you so much mom" he shared his deepest emotions with her like a child.
Agatha kissed him on his head.
"Then it's a good thing that you have Nina now. She will take care of you just like I take care of you. She is a good girl Theo. By the way, where is she?" Agatha inquired softly.
Theo became stiff. He was not expecting his mother to bring up Nina who tried to kill her.
"Don't bother about her, mom. You just recovered. You should relax and rest well. Leave the rest to me" he evaded her question.
Agatha frowned. She sensed that something is wrong. The way Theo spoke about Nina in a detached way didn't sit well with her. She pulled back and looked at her son with concern. "Theo, where is Nina? I want to see her" Agatha insisted.
Theo doesn't want Nina to come anywhere close to his mother again.
"Mom, she is the one who pushed you down the stairs. Why do you insist on seeing her again?" he asked as gently as he can.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
That took Agatha by shock.
"What? Who said Nina pushed me down? Nina has nothing to do with this. I fact when she saw me rolling down the stairs, she rushed up to stop the fall. I remember seeing blood on her hand when she tried to hold me from falling. Who told you that it's my daughter-in-law who hurt me?" Agatha demanded.
Out of everything, Theo was not expecting to hear that from his mother. For the second time today, he is learning that he wrongly accused Nina of a crime which she didn't commit.
"Mom, you just woke up. You must be confused" he tried to pursuade his mother that she must have forgotten.
But Agatha pushed his hand away with which he was holding hers.
"Don't take me for a fool Theo. I was just twenty nine when your father left us. You were only four years old then. I am neither delusional and short-sighted. I am stronger than you think I am. Call Nina and take a look at her right forearm. I am sure you would still find the mark on her arm from where she got injured when she tried to save me back then" Agatha fiercely protected Nina.
She suddenly started coughing violently.
"Mom, please calm down. I will go call the doctor right away" he rushed out to go and find a doctor.
Nina hurried to the hospital when she got a call saying that Agatha is awake. When she walked inside the familiar room, she found Agatha alone and coughing violently. "Mom, what happened?" Nina rushed and offered some water to Agatha.
After sipping the water, Agatha felt better. In fact she felt better the moment she saw Nina.
"Nina" Agatha embrased her daughter-in-law with love and affection. After what she heard from Theo, she is worried that she must have been ill treated by Theo.
"I am so sorry my dear. I was not there to protect you. Will you forgive me?" Agatha asked feeling extremely sad.
Nina who was feeling extremely low with the recent lows in her life, she couldn't help but cry in the comforting arms of Agatha who always treated her like her own daughter. After Nina's mother passed away, she received the same kind of love from only Agatha. "Oh my poor child, what did my hammerhead son did to you? Let him come, I will teach him a lesson in how to treat his wife" Agatha said fiercely.
Nina couldn't help but giggle imagining how Theo would look when his mother scolded him. But Nina couldn't do that to Theo. Moreover Agatha just woke up and she doesn't need all this stress.
'Theo wanted this Divorce. Now it's his responsibility to tell this to his mother'
With that thought in mind, she decided not to tell anything to Agatha.
"Mom, you misunderstood. I was so happy to see you like this, I couldn't help but cry happy tears. That doctor used to tell me that you might never wake up again. I used to feel so depressed. I lost my mom when I was still young. Then, as if God has felt bad for me, he sent you to me. But to see you lying in bed like that, i couldn't take it" Nina shared a part of the truth with Agatha. Her eyes are still filled with tears and her voice is hoarse.
She is sniffing and looked around for a tissue to wipe her eyes and nose. As if summoned, someone held a tissue in their hand and extended it towards her. She accepted the tissue gratefully and raised her head to say thank you, only to find Theo looking at her strangely. "Thank you" she mumbled half heartedly.
A doctor came then to look at Agatha. Nina moved aside and stood a bit away from Theo without making it look obvious.
"Mr. Morrison, Your mother's recovery is good. I don't think she needs to stay in the hospital any more. You can take her home. But don't forget to bring her for a check up every week for four weeks. I will prescribe some medicines, use them on time" the good doctor suggested before leaving.
After the doctor left, Agatha looked at Theo and Nina who stood away from eachother.
"Why are you standing so far? Stand closer. I missed seeing you both like this" Agatha said with a cheerful smile.
Nina looked as if a deer caught in head lights. But Theo decided everything for her.
"Nina, come here" he gently pulled her closer, taking Nina by shock.
Until then, Agatha didn't notice the bandages on Nina.
"Nina? What happened to you? Why is your arm bandaged?" Agatha asked worriedly.
