Chapter 22 Forced Confession
Chapter 22 Forced Confession
The door was closed again. Maria failed to make out what had happened. Until Kelvin was out of sight,
she approached Laura and asked, "Laura, what did he mean by that?"
Laura gripped the quilt corner tightly and said indignantly, "What good has been done for that bitch!"
Thought she could have taken advantage of this event to give Becca a rough time. But it never
occurred to her that there should be surveillance cameras in the lavatory. If the surveillance video
ended in the hands of the police, she would be convicted of libel. Or even worse, the Davis would not
easily show her mercy.
"So what should we do now? Just let her off the hook like that?" she said bitterly.
"Don't you see? It's a blessing in disguise. Master Lewis came to see me in person and offered me the
opportunity to join the Heyday. So long as I be a part of the Lewis, to ruin a bitch like her is easy."

Inside the police station.
"Is there anybody? Please let me out!" Becca yelled loudly to the outside. She clung to the wire mash
of a small room, in which she was locked.
"You lock me up without even trying to get a trial. Are you attempting to coerce me to confess?" Having
yelled for a long time, Becca lost all her strength and sat right on the floor.
Before she was brought in here, she thought about what she should say in her statement. But
strangely, they never asked any question throughout the whole process.
‘What do they want? Do they collude with Laura in attempts to directly convict her? How could this be
impossible in a society with rule of law?’
The thought of Laura made her fairly angry.
She had experienced this kind of framing tricks countless times in the past ten years. But she never
learned the lesson. Time and again she allowed Laura to meet her vicious purposes. Every time the
reproachful look of John and Albert came to her mind she only wished she could rush out and tear the
mask off Laura’s face right in front of them.
Albert accused her of being malicious. But he never knew the truth!
She was eight when her mother died. And Laura, a seven-year-old kid at that time, should be so cruelly
composed to witness Becca’s mother suicide without making an emergency call, intentionally.
Afterwards, she lied that she had never been in that room that day.
The recollection of the past flashed across her mind. Since John Garcia brought Laura home 17 years
ago, Becca’s nightmare began Becca’s mother kept being in low spirits after knowing John’s infidelity to
their marriage. The ensued depression induced her suicide. No more than six months after her mom’s
death her father married Maria. Since then, Becca had a stepmother.
So suspicious! Though not very decent and loyal in relationship, her father set great store by material
interests. The exposure of the existence of Maria and their daughter Laura failed to make him decide to
divorce. He simply brought Laura home. Because he knew only too well that his business still needed
the support from Becca’s mother.
Moreover, allowing Laura to be a part of this family was a sign that Becca’s mother, Joe Bush, had
accepted Laura. How could a person like her be afflicted with depression and further kill herself?
Becca began to suspect the truth of her mother’s death. Maria and Laura might have something to do
with it.
This possibility made Becca grit her teeth with even more resentment. However, she was locked here
right now while these two evil women spread rumors about her.
She must leave this place and find out the truth of her mother’s death and then revenge.
The sound of footsteps from the outside seemed to be a ray of hope for Becca. She rose to her feet,
only to find Bruce Davis standing in front of her.
“Uncle Bruce?” Becca took a step backwards. She knew that Bruce’ coming was never for visiting her.
“Oh! Stop trying to get close to me. I am not the uncle of a murderer.” he grinned ghastly.
“A murderer?” Becca could not figure out why he called her that. Suddenly it dawned on her that Laura
had framed her again after she was put in prison.
“You killed my grandson. You are a murderer!” Bruce, with his hands behind his back, gave a man
behind him a sideways glance. Then the man opened the door.
“What do you want to do?” Becca began to feel anxious about their movements. Another two people
came in and placed a document in front of her.
The dim light in the room helped Becca see the words in the document. It was already a complete
statement, only with the record entirely contrary to the fact.
“Sign this. A person with guilt deserves punishment.” Bruce said arrogantly.
“You want me to confess?” Becca turned round to look at him. “I’ve never made this statement. You
can’t distort fact like this!”
Bruce snorted, “I don’t care about the fact. I just want you to realize the consequences of opposing the
Davis. Though I don’t deny the fact that my son betrayed you, I will not allow you to disgrace the Davis
at will. So something must be done to you. There’s no room for others to question my power.”
“So it’s not because of Laura.” Becca laughed, self-mocking.
“Well, you’ve overestimated the importance of the Garcia. My son never lack good women who can
give birth to grandsons for me.” Bruce said blatantly.
Becca laughed again, turning pale. Sure enough, a life counts for nothing compared with their decency
in the public.
Bruce sized her up viciously, “Becca Garcia, I had thought highly of you for a little while when you
showed the Nova passing card. But you’re nothing more than a stupid woman. What a pity for you! You
should have made a wiser choice while with such a firm backer. You are too young and too naive!”
Even if she really got the support of Kelly Clark now, he was not likely to come to her rescue as the
whole thing had been messed up and spread out.
Bruce gave the men beside Becca a hint with the eyes. They came to grab her hand and pressed it
onto the red ink pad.
“Let go of me! I’m not going to sign!” Becca struggled with all her strength.
Her resistance couldn’t stand a chance before these men who were much stronger than her. Soon her
finger was dyed red and held forcibly onto the document.
“No!!!” she screamed.
“Mr. Davis!”
A man in suit walked in and turned pale when he caught sight of the scene in the room. He then
whispered to Bruce.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“What?” Bruce suddenly changed his countenance, looking suspiciously at Becca. Becca had no idea
what the suited man talked to him.
“Did he really say so?” Bruce reconfirmed it with the man.
The man nodded.
Then the two men who were grabbing Becca released her. Bruce motioned them to pick up the
document on the floor and walked out.
“Becca Garcia,” Bruce gave her a cold glance, “you are lucky this time. But mark my words, next time
you fall into my hands, luck will desert you.”
