Chapter 974
No matter how sweet Jaden was, being broke made it all pointless! When she saved him back then, it was because she spotted that fancy jade pendant he wore, thinking of the money she could gain! Candace decided it was time to confront Flora. Swallowing her pride
was worth it if it meant becoming the lady of the Neville family. She had her sights set on revenge.
As soon as Jaden was out of sight, she quickly caught a taxi to the Falcone mansion. But she didn't even make it past the front gate.
"I'm here to see Flora!" Candace called out anxiously from behind the iron gates. "Please, let me in!"
"Sorry, not just anyone gets to see Ms. Flora," the bodyguard replied flatly, not sparing her a second glance.
Candace stomped her foot, fuming. This had to be Flora's doing! Alright, if they wanted to play hardball, she was game.
"Flora! Flora! Flora!" she shouted, knowing how much these elite families cared about their reputation. She was determined to cause a scene, convinced they'd have to let her in.
...
Five minutes ticked by. The chilly wind made Candace shiver, her voice hoarse from shouting. Finally, the villa's gate opened.
Candace felt a surge of triumph, thinking, finally, they've come to their senses!
Out marched Kruz, Moss, and Beck. Kruz led the trio, with Moss and Beck each lugging a big bucket.
Candace recognized them from the black market, where they'd once humiliated her. She eyed them warily and took a step back, her heart pounding, but she couldn't stop herself from asking, "Where's Flora?"
Kruz didn't bother with an answer, just raised his arm.
"Splash."
At that command, Moss and Beck heaved up their buckets!
Candace realized something was off and tried to dodge, but it was too late. A thick, sticky liquid drenched her from head to toe, reeking of blood. She screamed and shook, "What is this!"
"Chicken blood," Kruz said with a nasty grin. "For someone as nasty and irritating as you, chicken blood is just right to wash away the stench."
"Listen up I'm not in a good mood either, so don't push your luck. Flora's asleep, and if you wake her up, it won't just be chicken blood you'll have to deal with."
"Now, scram!"
"You!"
Chicken blood dripped down her hair as Candace stood there, utterly humiliated. She trembled with rage, pointing at Kruz, but words failed her. "Point at me again, and I'll snap your finger."

laid-back guy most of the time, but when he got mad, he was
intimidating. He was about to head to Empire Base, feeling pretty tense himself, and here was this woman begging for a fight.
Just then, a car horn honked.
A vehicle pulled up at the villa's entrance, and Amanda and Ethan stepped out, each carrying bags filled with stuff they'd bought for Flora. "What's going on here?" Amanda asked, frowning slightly as she stepped aside, puzzled by the sight of Candace covered in blood.
"She disturbed Flora's nap!" Kruz nodded in Candace's direction.
Candace realized Amanda was
Connor's mom. Knowing how tricky mother-in-law and daughter-in-law dynamics could be, she thought if she could turn Amanda against Flora...
"Mrs. Falcone, I'm Candace," she said, putting on her most pitiful look. "I came to see Flora today, but Mr. Kruz here doused me in chicken-"
"You're Candace?" Amanda cut her off, her expression turning cold.
"Are you the one who accused my daughter-in-law of being a thief on the black market?"
