Chapter 59
Lauren picked up the phone.
Listening to the voice on the other side of the phone, Sally was aletle surprised and then the ked af ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Dansking “Will you
come back today?”
“I didn’t come back either yesterday,” Lauren said.
It meant that Lauren was asking Sally not to beat around the bush
Sally explained, “I want to ask someone to repair your car as soon as possible.”
Lauren closed her eyes, and her tone was careless, “Kelly has already had it repaired, and she will
send the bill to you later Sally had thought Lauren might use this opportunity to let everyone know
about her relationship with Herman but surprisingly
she didn’t.
After a moment of silence, Sally said, “Your car looks good. Even if it is repaired, it may not be as good
as before. If you need to
assess the damage, you can tell me.”
Lauren nodded and said, “Well, Kelly will contact you later.” After speaking, Lauren hung up the phone.
“Did she just hang up the phone?” Theresa’s eyes widened and so did the other two girls.
Dana stared at the phone and didn’t speak for a long time.
Lisa tilted her head and thought about it, and then she suddenly burst out laughing.
Theresa looked at her and asked, “What are you laughing at?”
“I laugh at you,” Lisa said, “You guys are immersed in making up a story while Lauren didn’t take it
seriously at all Hearing this. Theresa’s face was a little red because of embarrassment. She couldn’t
believe that Lauren would be so calm. It such a great opportunity for her but she didn’t seize it!
Sally put down her phone, raised her eyes to look at the housekeeper, and signaled him to take the
maids to leave. So there only four of them left in the dining hall. Sally said, “We got it wrong. Lauren
has nothing to do with Herman.”
“Then why did she drive Herman’s car?” Theresa was puzzled.
“Could it be…” Dana turned to Lisa.
“Don’t look at me,” Lisa knew what Dana wanted to say and her voice was affirmative, “That was
Herman’s car and I am pr
sure about this.”
“Could it be that she was waiting for Herman to make their relationship public,” Theresa said.
Dana held her phone, without saying anything. Lisa was silent too,
In the end, it was Sally who concluded the matter, “She should know Herman, but they are not close to
each other.” After this, Dana looked at Sally.
Sally explained, “The Bennett family once investigated her in order to find her and I saw her information
in my mother’s “Go ahead,” Theresa urged.
Sally thought for a while and said, “Her background is very clean. She was adopted by an old doctor
called Mr. Bach and always the top student in school. Then she was admitted to a top university with
excellent grades and has been in the laborat since. If she and Herman are very close, Jeffery will know
that. So I guess she knows Herman but is not very close to him.”
