House Of Legions (The Angel Descendants book 1)

Chapter 30 (Liam)

Chapter 30 (Liam)

Liam rumbled through the draws for the hundredth time, “It can’t just disappear, try tracking it again.”

His sister clomped her black ankle boots towards him from the passage, trampling on glass, cracking it with her heels, the noise not bothering either of them.

Her legs encased in a vintage pair of dark maroon leather pants, she lifted the sleeve of her black and silver jersey which sat loosely on her bodice and pushed her open blonde wavy hair back. Her Australian accent rushed through the room, “I have done it over and over again, if it was here I’d know.”

“Nobody knows about the necklace beside the three of us, I delivered it myself, who would take it.”

He looked at the girl, her eyes greener than the summers grass, shinier than a gemstone in the sun, the eyes of his mother. “Liam I don’t even know much about the necklace myself, you still haven’t told me what’s it for? the scent tells me it’s strong, and that brother always equals trouble.”

“I told you I will in time, try again, I’m going to talk to the police, and try ‘n keep it to yourself will you.”

She threw her hands in the air, “I don’t have to help you, a little trust brother will go a long way.”

Fiddling with her hair he smiled before he bent down to kiss her forehead, “Why can't you wear a dress once in a while Jullie.” With a fleeting wave of her hand, she then pushed him lightly, “Because dressing fittingly for a mission, ready to fight or flight is more logical.”

He fought the urge to laugh, although the necklace was missing he had held Clare in his arms, inhaling her essence. She never shunned him, if anything she was reluctant to leave his embrace. Liam had wanted to be there with her, have more time with her. The possessiveness he felt of her went beyond reason, but his need to protect her first was without thought. After a call to Nathan, he knew Clare was in good hands. That thought appeased his need to claim her just yet.

A man dressed in brown chino’s and green golfer walked toward him. “you must be the detective,” Liam’s voice echoed loudly before the man approached.

Liam had put his brown contacts on, and wore black suit pants and white shirt, leaving it open slightly down the chest, in an attempt to apply himself as a deceptor. Unfortunately, his ego was still much intact when the light-skinned man offered his hand in good faith. Liam did not touch humans.

So instead he gave a nod, It made him look like a pretentious bastard, but what was he to do? No, he wasn’t wearing gloves for anyone. They would know instantly that he was different, either way.

The demon scent masked by his own in the room, caused the air around him to rise, making him a minimum of a hundred times more intimidating than any deceptor in the world.

He heard the deceptors heart race because his profound presence was hard enough for one not to feel undermined with his stature, the man stuttered, NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

“Ccccall me, Ian.”

The deceptor dropped his hand, and Liam didn’t have time to talk much. Casually he looked at his watch, it was a few after six, then he looked behind him, but the men in the police outfits were talking outside, oblivious to the detective and himself.

He focused his hearing toward Jullie who had made herself scarce moving toward the bedroom. She hated deceptors and tried to refrain heavily from any contact with them unless necessary. Which suited him just perfect because he liked his sister safe. His eyes darted back at the man facing him.

Liam played close attention to the detective's features, rounded face, redness from eating forbidden fruits and meats, then he went deeper. The man stood there but had absolutely no recollection of what Liam was doing, no clue that he was reading the man’s mind. His thoughts flashed in Liam’s eyes,

watching if the man had suspected anything out of the ordinary, he was just about done when he heard the drop of wind coming from the balcony.

Stopping only once he was completely satisfied with what all the detectives now concluded in their minds about the crime scene- it was a fight, and the people had left, either than that it was a closed case, nothing worth reporting. Because that is what Liam had put in the mortal's mind.

Staring at the mortal man he commanded in a gentle voice, “You and your men leave now, and forget you ever saw me.” He appreciated how easy it was to control the thoughts of the deceptors, so easily intercepted.

Liam stood in the lounge watching the deceptor Ian leave with his guys. The place was in a chaotic mess, glass and table parts scattered across the floor. His body felt the anger drafting up to the surface, but his mind reminded him that his princess was safe.

Attempting to control his anger, on what stood outside the balcony, or who, he opened the door, his persona cold and lethal as his voice dropped, “You lied to me, you said you knew nothing.”

Kalbreal stood there, bare-chested as his eyes boldly scanned the traffic of car’s beneath them, “I didn’t intentionally lie, William, I just didn’t see the need of you knowing everything.”

Turning his body he acknowledged Liam. Eyes ablaze with the Infinity fires distantly burning continuously, pleading to come out, begging to torch this earth in its flames. Liam was no fool, he knew how it felt to have a constant power seething in your body. He knew the burning desire to unleash it even more.

“But then again,” Kalbreal added, locking his hands behind his back. Deceptors would think the pose was casual, relaxed, but Liam knew better, and it was confirmed by what Kalbreal said next, “I find

myself having to remind you, I do not hold the answers to your asked question, whereas you taunt me with mine information.”

“The way I see it Boy, with-holding information is the same as lying, you want my help I suggest you start talking. I want to know everything, including why she has been stripped of her identity, yes might I repeat STRIPPED.”

The Angel tilted his head, a smile as hot with anger as the magma of his heated stare, “Meet me in Khiron, first light tomorrow, I will tell you everything that I can."
