Chapter 47 (Clare)
Chapter 47 (Clare)
Adams turned out to be a double-storey building, covered in grey rocks, which made up the walls of the outside, like the Scottish stone houses.
When they entered it, Clare saw a huge flat-screen television, showing a football match in full swing, as lots of people scattered around, talking, dancing to the loud rock song playing. Some just lounged on maroon couches, whilst others stood, eating, drinking and screaming strings of sailors words, it was no doubt a party scene.
The place looked human, and ordinary, young people lurked around, ranging from ages between eighteen to thirties, maybe. Waiters took orders. The people who stood out, on the left corner reminded her of where she was, the Elvan, who still wore their robes.
The majority of the people blended in with her brother, wearing brown, some wore normal jeans and t- shirts. The Shapeshifter’s hogged the pool tables at the back, she loved the blue hair, she wondered what they did with it in the real world.
She sighed, “This place is awesome.”
Alonso touched her back as she walked further into the place, toward the wooden tables and chairs on the left, she turned, “Hey, dude,”
He handed her a bag and smiled. When he did this, his eyes seemed to stand out more, she wanted to laugh, at her wayward thought, but held it in, “Compliments from Nadia.”
She took the pack, “Thanks dude, what is this place?”
“It’s joint, like a hangout place for students mostly, they serve a mean steak, if you’re hungry, come on it’s too crowded here let's go upstairs.”
She followed him up two flights of green neon tiled stairs. Giving the bottom floor one last and quick scan because she hadn’t seen where Nathan disappeared too.
The upstairs of Adams place had soft music playing, and dimmed purple lights coming from behind a large circular shape fish tank. On the right side, a small flat-screen TV hung on the wall, which served no purpose, at the moment.
Nearer to her, was what looked like white couches designed to represent a huge almost full-on circle made to surround a rounded low rise table.
She spotted Nathan, Kalbreal, and Nadia, seated on opposite ends.
Alonso bumped her, “It’s great right?”
She agreed but didn’t face him. “Definitely, I’m going to change,” noticing the bathroom straight away, because of the sign.
The bathroom was simple with a lime green toilet and sink. She changed into her clothes, a blue shirt which was on the big side and denim jeans, which was a little too short and fit like three quarters.
Clare opened her hair, and walked out of the bathroom, barely managing to back up a step, before she hit into his chest, “Kalbreal, do you want to use the bathroom? Or do you just get the thrill of burning my skin?”
He looked ridiculed “I was waiting for you,”
“Oh, really, why?”
He searched her face, she could see the redness in his eyes, the flicker of gold on his irises. They were so beautiful, she almost didn’t see them stopping at her lips.
Her pulse seemed to race, as his mouth opened slightly. His eyes narrowed when she dropped hers, instantly, to look away from him, “We need to discuss something. Privately.”
He opened the bathroom door, just expecting her to cower to his demand, and waited for her to go back inside. When they did, he opened the sink taps wide, “Franchesca was no patriarch or warrior, but when she died she became much more than that, I would see to it that she gets a good place in my home, but I’m afraid her death would be for nothing.” He ran his fingers through his hair, she could tell he was agitated, “you see there are other Angels on the earth, a few actually.” He moved a step closer to her, and then hesitated, “I don’t know where the others are, but I do know of one’s whereabouts.”
She could smell alcohol on him, it wasn’t strong but clouded by his strong distinctive seductive scent. Something she wasn’t familiar with, but he didn’t look the least bit drunk, he just seemed haunted with worries.
His mouth didn’t twist into a smile either, as it had a few times, and he blinked way too often for a normal guy, “Okay.” She said, “If you want to talk that’s fine, but what does the angel's presence have to do with me or my mother, is it something to do with my brother, Calub.” NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
“No. One of them might be after you, which is why I need you to be safe, I know you’re looking for people to trust, but right now I suggest the only person you can trust is your brother, he’ll protect you.”
“What about William?”
Kalbreal put his hand on his face, and peeped at her through his index and middle finger, “He doesn’t count, he isn’t the most reliable when it comes to women.”
“What is that suppose to mean?” Kalbreal looked up at the bathroom ceiling, “He’s helping because of loyalties to your mother, and myself, you can’t trust one who refuses to meet you.”
“How do you know that.”
His tone was defensive, Clare could tell she hit a nerve, if he had any, “I’m an Angel I know things, now why are we talking about someone who you don’t even know.”
She could see something flicker in his eyes, the annoyance in his voice, “If you're going to be jealous at least make an effort first.”
His cheeks flushed, even for an Angel he couldn’t hide it, “Nobody has ever said that to me before.”
“Well maybe they just haven’t had reason to,” she replied with as much sarcasm she could muster, watching his body movement.
The bathroom was small for a big man like Kalbreal, but there was a place to move around, instead, he stayed near her, without actually touching her.
She could see the lines on his chest, his shirt unbuttoned on the top, and the long bridge of his neck. The sharpness of his chin that curved at just the right angle, was enough to make a woman bend to her knees. The plush of his lips that promised for the best seduction was his wickedest feature, and finally, she reached his flaming eyes. So unreal, the guy was gorgeous, regardless of his piercings, there was no denying the obvious, though he didn’t make her feel the way William did, she would play along.
“Do you have wings Kalbreal?”
“Yes.”
“Can I see them?”
He laughed, “They need space, they are really hot, BUT without your name you won’t be able to see it, it’ll blind you.”
“You mean the name on my skin, right? If you want to say no, just say it.”
