I Refuse to Divorce

Chapter 39

Chapter 39

His words carried a hint of provocation.

Mason smirked, gesturing for the caddy to place the ball. Then, with a slight tilt, he swung the club.

Watching the ball's landing spot, he walked in that direction, speaking leisurely, "Since when have you understood me so well? Yes, one has to keep a close eye on the wife at home to prevent unwanted attention. What do you think, Gregory?"

Gregory's expression was not pleasant. After a moment, he sneered.

"But sometimes, no matter how closely you watch, it still won't work. There's a saying. Love is like sand. The more you want to grasp it, the faster it slips away."

Under the sunset, the lush green grass stretched out. Mason, dressed in a white casual outfit, looked smart and energetic. He lowered his head and swung the golf club.

With two strokes, the ball was in the hole. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Mason showed no interest in playing further. Handing the club to the caddy, he took a towel to wipe his hands, smiling at Gregory.

"Gregory, I've never failed to get what I want since I was young. Besides, you know my temper."

He did not want to burn bridges with Gregory over Zoe. Although she was his wife, she held no relevance to him.

With that, Mason walked away.

Gregory remained in his original spot, his expression somewhat indifferent.

He was not sure what was happening to him. He used to feel nothing but disdain for Zoe, but now he eagerly hoped Mason would let go and divorce her. That way, he might have a chance.

Mason did not expect Ava to mess things up.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ava went to Rosemary's house to help but was kicked out in less than two hours.

Mason's position in the business world was superior. One would not rock the boat unnecessarily.

Therefore, Rosemary's anger spoke volumes about how much trouble Ava had caused.

Ava felt wronged. Rosemary not only scolded her but also sent her a message to invite Zoe.

Looking at Mason's expression, Ava said softly, "Mr. Mason, I think this case may be doomed to fail. Mr. Terrence probably already knows who to choose. Otherwise, his wife would not be so disrespectful to you."

Mason closed the file, asking, "What did Mrs. Rosemary ask you to help with?"

Ava explained with a lie, "Mr. Mason, I really tried my best, but Mrs. Rosemary insisted that Zoe come…"

She had a selfish motive. She hoped that he would still bring her.

Mason immediately decided. "I'll take Zoe with me to the banquet tomorrow."

Ava's mood hit rock bottom.

Trembling, she could not help but belittle Zoe, "But Zoe doesn't know anything about that project. She doesn't understand anything about the business world."

Mason leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on his subordinate, his tone indifferent.

"But Zoe understands Rosemary. Also, Ava, this decision is a statement. There's no room for discussion."

When Ava left, Mason called Zoe.

Seemingly in a huff, she still refused to answer his calls. Mason dialed several times, and she kept rejecting them.

'This woman has such a bad temper!'

After contemplating momentarily, Mason sent her a message.

"Don't you need money? Accompany me to an event and I'll send you 30 thousand dollars."

He did not believe Zoe would decline.

However, Mason was wrong.

After sending the message, he waited for half an hour but did not receive a reply from Zoe.

Mason frowned slightly.

Later, he transferred 30 thousand dollars to her anyway.
