Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 233

Wedding.

His breath was warm against her ear, and just the mention of that word sent her heart racing. Selena found herself staring at his handsome face. His face was so close she could reach out and touch it. Her fingers lightly traced the contours of his features. "Are you serious?"

How could she not dream of a proper wedding with him? Ever since her early teens, she loved watching romantic dramas and imagining her own perfect wedding someday.

When she married Everett, she'd hinted at it, sometimes subtly, sometimes not so much. But he never took the bait. Now, here he was, bringing it up himself.

"Yeah."

Everett shrugged casually. "It'd make Grandpa happy. He's always wanted to be the one to officiate our wedding."

Ah, so it was for Grandpa...

Selena understood Everett's loyalty to his family, but she couldn't help feeling a bit let down. She didn't want to seem childish or demanding, so she looked down, trying to hide her feelings. Everett, of course, noticed. He gently lifted her chin, making her meet his gaze.

Selena couldn't look away, her lashes fluttering nervously.

He enjoyed watching her squirm before adding with a smirk, "And to make you happy, too."

It dawned on Selena that he'd known all along. He was just teasing her. She felt both annoyed and bashful, pushing him away playfully.

"I'm going to bed."

She slid off the vanity and headed to the bed, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.

Everett didn't stop her. He leaned casually against the vanity, arms crossed, his dark eyes following her every move. "Mrs. Bennett, are you really going to leave me all alone tonight?" His meaning was clear.

Selena glanced at him, and her face turned even redder. Their earlier closeness had clearly affected him, the evidence peeking out from beneath his robe...

She wondered if all men his age were this insatiable or if it was just Everett. He seemed to want her every day, leaving her exhausted. Having only been with him, Selena had no one else to compare to. She was too worn out to entertain him after a late night and an early hospital visit.

So, Selena decided to pretend to be asleep, ignoring his words. She climbed into bed, lay stiffly, and closed her eyes.

To make it more convincing, she even let out a tiny snore.

Everett watched her exaggerated performance, chuckled, and stroked his chin.

Oddly enough, he found her antics a bit charming.

She acted like a little girl.

'Alright,' he thought, 'tonight he'd be the gentleman instead of the rogue.'

Everett went to the bathroom, took a cold shower to cool down, and came out wrapped in a robe.

By then, Selena was genuinely asleep, her peaceful face stirring a tenderness in him.

He slid into bed, wrapped an arm around her, inhaled the soft scent of her body wash, and soon drifted off himself.

When Selena woke up the next morning, Everett was gone. But a fresh love bite on her neck made presence felt, a reminder of his

morning mischief.

As she applied her makeup, she shook her head in mock disbelief, but inside, she was secretly pleased.

Over breakfast, Ava informed her,

"Mr. Bennett wanted me to tell you to give him a call when you're up. He's taking you dress shopping today."

Selena paused.

She thought Everett was just considering a ceremony, not that he'd jump into planning it so soon.

But then, he didn't waste time when he set his mind on something.

That was how Bennett Corporation had thrived under his leadership. "Alright, got it."

Thinking about trying on dresses, Selena instinctively cut back on her breakfast, skipping two pastries to

make sure she'd fit perfectly into those gorgeous wedding gowns.
