Spotting them, Linda’s angry demeanour swiftly shifted to one of innocence. “Chase, Mom, this lady is unreasonable. I even offered her money, yet she struck me!”

With determination, Chase advanced, hoisting Linda up, observing the torn remnants of the check scattered on her attire.

“Jessie, you have an opportunity to elucidate your actions!” Chase s stare bore into Jessie.

Yet, Jessie appeared preoccupied, her attention drawn to the woman behind him, cradling a child.

“Mom?” her voice quivered, breaking the silence.

“Jessie?” The woman echoed, her gaze fixed on Jessie with disbelief.

Jessie came to the startling realisation that she wasn’t mistaken. The woman before her was indeed her biological mother, Celia Fanning.

The same callous woman who had forsaken her and her father when she was merely eight years old!

Jessie was shocked, her gaze locked in disbelief on Linda and Celia.

Fate had orchestrated another cruel twist. She never fathomed her mother would become Linda’s stepmother!

Her spouse, her mother, all now entwined in Linda’s family ties.

Chase noticed her unsettled demeanour but maintained his silence, observing without a hint of reaction.

The baby’s cries shattered the tense ambiance. It was in that moment that Jessie’s attention was drawn to the infant cradled in Chase’s arms.

If her child had lived, he would have been approximately the same age.

Chapter 14 Anotlier Chrel Twit

Seizing the moment, Linda assumed the role of a nurturing wife and mother, comforting the child.

Chase tenderly comforted the child, “Baby, don’t cry.”

However, the child appeared unusually distressed today. Despite their attempts to pacify him, his wails persisted, even triggering tears from the baby girl cradled in Celia’s arms.

The echoes of the baby’s cries resonated throughout the house.

Jessie glanced at Chase, and her guarded heart was unexpectedly flooded with

emotions.

Observing the towering figure tenderly cradling the tiny infant stirred warmth within her. Witnessing his nurturing and patient nature, a poignant realisation struck her. This could have been my life

Motivated by her feelings, she advanced and gently plucked the child from Chase’s embrace. Linda made a move to intercede, but to her astonishment, Chase halted her. Even more peculiar was the moment the child rested in Jessie’s arms, his cries ceased, replaced by a radiant smile.

The child, nearly a year old, had distinct features, with rosy cheeks and a smile that tugged at the corners of his mouth. He emitted giggles, interspersed with indistinct syllables, “Amma…

With small, tender hands reaching out to grab the pom–pom on her hat, the child’s. cheerful expression bore a striking resemblance to Chase. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

A sharp pang pierced Jessie’s heart, shattering her remaining resistance.

There was a time when she had believed fervently in Chase’s love, particularly during the initial phases of their marriage.

In her dreams, he would embrace her tenderly, murmuring, “Jess, let’s have at child.”

How could she deny his plea? Despite her unfinished education, she had welcomed pregnancy without hesitation.

Unbeknownst to her, each time he ventured overseas for business, he indulged in dalliances with other women.

Feeling a wave of nausea engulf her, Jessie handed the child back to him and hurried into the bathrooms, securing the door behind her.

Having consumed nothing, the contents she expelled were a disturbing blend of blood, tinting her eyes crimson.

Tears cascaded down her cheeks in an unstoppable torrent. Well, it was just perfect,

wasn’t ir

Our marriage had been a joke from the very beginning!

I was nothing more than a substitute for Linda!

I was simply a tool for Chase to fulfil his desires while maintaining his status in the country

After some time, there was a gentle rap on the door.

“Jess, are you okay?”

Jessie cleaned up the aftermath, refreshed her face with cool water, and emerged unsteadily from the bathroom.

Unaware of the complicated relationships among them, Celia voiced her concern, “Jess, are you feeling unwell?”

“Just seeing those two makes me feel sick. Vomiting actually helps,” Jessie replied,

her discomfort evident.

“Jess, do you know Linda? She’s been abroad all this time. Is there a misunderstanding between you two? He is Mr…”

Jessie interrupted her, her voice icy, “I’m well aware of Chase, the CEO of the Thompsons Group. Who doesn’t know him?”
