As Annie left, Skylar lifted her head and glanced in the direction she had gone before looking Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
back at Steven.
Steven met her gaze.
They exchanged a knowing look and likely understood each other’s thoughts. From Steven’s expression, Skylar realized he had already moved on from his feelings for Annie. That was good.
There was no room for a third party in Steven and Mona’s relationship.
Even though she had just met Mona today, Skylar could tell that Mona appeared to be a sweet girl with a strong personality. She definitely wouldn’t accept a boyfriend who still had feelings for his ex– girlfriend.
Throughout the meal, they all enjoyed themselves. Since Skylar had driven, she hadn’t drunk any alcohol. Meanwhile, Steven and Mona had a few drinks and decided to take a cab home.
Skylar felt a bit stuffed and decided to stroll through the night market. Suddenly, she recalled that Muriel seemed to be in this night market.
During their interview the other day, Muriel mentioned that she needed some money and would be setting up a stall at the night market in the evening. She was selling items she had, designed, and she had plenty of stock.
Once it was sold out, she wouldn’t be coming back to the night market. Skylar suddenly thought that she could actually open a few more livestream accounts.
Then, she could give Muriel a time slot to livestream. As a designer explaining her products, this should attract quite a bit of traffic. Skylar could also give Muriel a percentage of the
profits.
However, she hadn’t discussed these ideas with Muriel yet. When she found her later, they
could discuss them in detail.
At this time, the night market was particularly crowded.
It was a cool evening, and the night market stretched on for a long way. Skylar wasn’t quite sure where Muriel had set up her stall, so she would have to find her by chance.
During her college years, Skylar loved to stroll through the night market near campus with Natalie. The market was filled with various snacks, and as she wandered, memories of her college days flooded back.
Suddenly, she spotted Muriel not far ahead. Many girls gathered around her stall.
Just as Skylar was about to approach, she noticed Lizzie nearby.
Lizzie sported her usual short hair today and wore no makeup, just a simple hat. She was dressed quite casually and focused intently on Muriel.
Seeing this, Skylar decided not to interrupt. After a moment’s thought, she turned to leave quietly.
However, just as she took a couple of steps, someone grabbed her arm.
“I saw you,” Lizzie said in a low voice. Skylar paused and turned to look at her. “I saw you too, ” she replied.
Lizzie seemed taken aback at first but then forced a smile. “Want to join me for some barbecue?”
Skylar had already filled up on barbecue earlier, but seeing Lizzie’s sad expression made it hard to refuse. She nodded and said, “Let’s go.”
They randomly chose a barbecue place. Inside, Lizzie ordered food and then asked what Skylar wanted.
Skylar ordered five lamb skewers. Perhaps it was the evening, but some emotions felt magnified. Lizzie suddenly felt the urge to open up.
“Muriel is my girlfriend,” she revealed.
Skylar had guessed that much.
“Back in college, not many knew about our relationship–only Paul knew. We both had our dreams. When we were young and fearless, we shouted slogans, wanting to become the brightest stars in our respective fields. Unfortunately … I ruined her future. I can’t face her. As Lizzie spoke of the past, regret filled her eyes.
