Chapter 22 Who is he?
Chapter 22 Who is he?
The photos were taken in a dim alley. They were all about a half-naked woman. The woman leaned
against a red rubbish bin. Her eyes went blank her body was dirty.
A few people nearby picked up the photos and the hall exploded.
"What are these?"
"Pearl?"
"Oh my god, when did it happen? Not just herself was there. Was Pearl ...?"
......
"So the child a..."
Before the relatives said 'bastard', Pearl crouched down to covere Bonny's ears hurriedly. She held
Bonny in her arms so that she couldn't see or hear anything.
Pearl was trembling. Her knees almost gave way. She lowered her head desperately to avoid any
gaze. She was unwilling to let anyone compare her with the woman in the photos.
When she glimpsed at those photos, she immediately knew that they were from that rainy night seven
years ago.
She still remembered everything. The next morning, she woke up in the dirty alley. The stinking red
trash can, the dead-end alley full of planks and glasses, the muddy puddle and she was in a mess...
Her memory was hazy, but everything around her suggested what she had experienced the night
before.
The thunderstorm and the night seven years ago were replaying in her head again. Figures were
approaching her, which reflected in the puddle. Laughter of the the lecherous men rang in her ears
continuously.
Her mind went blank. Her ears started buzzing. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Pearl, what's happened?"
Evelina's now was really surprised for she had no idea about the photos. She asked someone to take
the twins to just embarrass Pearl. Yet the matter escalated now, which would humiliate the whole
Yonng family.
Anthony's face was dark and horrible. The butler ordered the waiters to take back all the photos.
However, so many people had seen them. It was impossible to shut their mouths up.
The crowd was gossiping. Evelina was angry and also embarrassed.
"Pearl! What have you done? Say something." Evelina shouted.
"Miss, you should explain." the butler advised.
"Pearl, are you trying to destroy our family?"
"You shouldn't have come back! You even took this fatherless child here!"
"How could you be so shameless? Do you do this on purpose to hurt our father?"
Pearl held Bonny in her arms. She buried her pale face in Bonny's shoulder. She dared not look up.
Criticisms and stare were everywhere.
However, her head was replaying the call she received seven years ago. It said, "If you dare come
back, the whole world will know what have happened on that rainy night. And I, will always keep an eye
on you."
"I will always keep an eye on you." Those remarks echoed in her mind.
Since she returned to the country, this kind of things had happened twice. She was being watched. If
she kept staying here, countless incidents would happen until they destroyed her.
Who was he? Who?
Helpless, panicky, shameless. Countless emotions crushed her. Her vision blurred. She felt like she
was in an abyss. There were countless people throwing rocks at her, trying to bury her alive.
"Bonny, why did you run so hurriedly? Daddy and I couldn't even catch up."
A sweet voice rang in the noisy hall.
Following the voice, they spotted a tall man. He was well dressed. His tailored suit made his legs look
very long and straight.
"Who is that?"
"I don't know. I've never seen him before."
The man's eyes were cold. His strict face made others hold their breath. The man was holding the
hand of a about seven-year-old boy. The boy was handsome as well as cut, and his big eyes were very
composed.
He the one who was speaking.
Evelina's face lit up as she noticed the man. "Mr. Zellweger."
She met Richard once at a dinner. Although she knew that he rarely attended parties, she still sent him
an invitation. It never occurred to her that he would attend her party.
But Richard did not even spare Evelina a glance. Entering the hall, his eyes were fixed on the trembling
figure that was hugging the little girl.
Pearl raised her head blankly. Her miserable face showed up. She stared at Richard. Her hair was a
mess that made her look like a clown surrounded by people at a circus.
Richard was instantly pained when he saw her.
In fact, he should resent her now.
