Chapter 106
Chapter 106 Oligozoospermia
Sophia shouted, "You've done something dirty yourself, admit it! Why should I regret anything?"
Emily nodded, glancing at Nathan.
Her gaze made Nathan uneasy. "Is this about me?"
"Yes," Emily nodded. "Your grandfather arranged for us to marry to protect you and the Reed family."
"Hah!" Sophia sneered. "Don't make yourself out to be so noble. You're just a poor girl. What can you do to protect the Reed family?"
Emily remained unfazed, just looking at her quietly.
"The Reed family really does need me," Emily said. "Even though I'm a poor girl, I can keep a secret."
"What secret?"
Nathan asked. After four years of marriage with Emily, he had no idea there was still a secret between them. However, Emily's current expression gave him a bad feeling.
"Nathan has oligozoospermia."
"What?!"
"What..."
Nathan and Sophia both stood frozen in place. One surprised, the other bewildered, their expressions grim.
Emily sighed and continued, "If you insist on forcing me to reveal the truth, then I will. Nathan, you were diagnosed with oligozoospermia when you were a teenager. Your grandfather kept it from you, but you are his only grandson. You carry the responsibility of being the heir. If you were to marry another girl, your condition would inevitably be discovered."
"The sole heir of the Reed group has oligozoospermia. This news is likely to unsettle some shareholders, and some ill-intentioned individuals might target the Reed group. Before he passed away, your grandfather entrusted me to keep this secret. I promised to never speak of this secret."NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
"Oligozoospermia isn't azoospermia; it's still possible for a woman to get pregnant with you, but the chances are slim. Your grandfather thought I had a good temperament and patience, so he begged me to tolerate you and your mother. I agreed, so for these four years of marriage, I've endured it, until you and your mother thought I was infertile and kicked me out."
Emily tugged at her lips, her expression inscrutable. "Nathan, even if we divorce, even with you and your mother treating me like this, I still want to keep this secret for you. But Sophia's rumors and defamation of me and your grandfather's reputation leave me no choice but to fight back."
"Nathan," she glanced at him, "your grandfather's arrangements were all for you. I hope you stay clear-headed and don't let the Reed family fall apart because of you. Also, I don't know how Sophia got pregnant, but I suggest you be cautious. It's very unlikely for someone with oligozoospermia to impregnate a woman quickly. I've said my piece. I hope you'll think about it carefully."
As soon as she finished speaking, her hand touched a button in the corner of the wall, and she pressed it with some force.
There was a loud noise, and a door in front of her opened, revealing a narrow, dark passage.
"I've found the way," she said, her face showing a joyful expression. "I'm going to find Herry. Goodbye."
With that, she disappeared into the passage.
Nathan quickly followed. "It's too dangerous for you alone. I'll come with you."
The room remained dark as their figures swiftly disappeared, leaving Sophia alone.
The scene in the haunted house was hair-raising, accompanied by a cold breeze. Sophia's mental state had shattered after what had just happened. She couldn't stay there any longer and immediately turned and ran out of the haunted house. It wasn't until she saw the sunlight that she burst into tears.
Ring, ring-
The phone rang.
She answered, "Hello, Mom!"
"Yeah, we're almost done here. How was your time with Nathan?"
"Mom!" Sophia cried heartbreakingly, "Emily came in too! She exposed my abortion, and Nathan already knows..."
Grace remained silent for a long moment.
"Mom?"
"Yeah, don't cry. Stay calm, especially at this time. I'm here."
But Sophia could tell from Grace's voice that she was also deeply troubled.
Grace said, "Have you seen the children's play area? Let's meet there, and we can talk more."
Sophia felt like she had found a lifebuoy and nodded quickly. "Okay, I'm on my way."
Grace cautioned, "Be careful. You're pregnant and wearing high heels. Take it slow."
Sophia couldn't care less. Nathan probably already suspected her pregnancy. It was meaningless now.
She stood up and ran towards the children's play area.
From a distance, she saw Grace waiting there.
Seeing Sophia in such a distraught state, Grace's heart clenched. She quickly approached and held her. "How did you let yourself get into this state? Why would Emily do this?"
Sophia hugged Grace, sobbing. "Mom, she did it on purpose. Emily is too calculating!"
"Alright, stop crying. Tell me exactly what happened just now."
Sophia reluctantly stopped crying, wiped her tears, and recounted everything that had happened in the haunted house to Grace.
After hearing it all, Grace's face turned very grim.
"Mom, do you think she did it
deliberately? She deliberately
revealed these things today. Sh
doesn't want me to become Mrs. Reed!"
But Grace shook her head. "I don't think she did it deliberately."
Angry, Sophia retorted, "Mom, why are you still defending her?"
"I'm not defending her; I'm just being objective. Think about it. If she wanted to stop you from marrying into the Reed family, she would have said it when she was kicked out of the Reed family. If Carol knew Nathan had oligozoospermia why would she dare to kick her out? But she didn't say anything then. I think. she genuinely wanted to keep this secret."
"Mom, I don't understand. The Reed family is so wealthy, doesn't she have any attachment to it?" Grace's gaze suddenly turned cold and stern. "There's only one explanation. She found a wealthier man."
