Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Larissa was a little confused by his stare. She could tell that he was angry, but she did not know what he was angry about.

Lucas was completely unaware of what was going on between the two, and he excitedly rushed to Kevan and stuck out his hand.

“Mr. Rogers! We meet again.”

Kevan had to give him half of his attention, and he made a non–verbal sound of acknowledgment. However, he did not shake Lucas‘ hand, which caused his smile to freeze on his face and the light in his eyes to grow dull.

Larissa quickly went over and explained to him. “Mr. Rogers is a germaphobe and doesn’t like bodily contact with others.”

Lucas was enlightened, and he withdrew his hand in embarrassment. “My apologies, Mr. Rogers. I have been too forward.”

“It’s fine.” Kevan was surprisingly easy to talk to. “Thank you for today.”

Flattered, Lucas‘ excitement was written all over his face. He was about to express his adoration and admiration for Kevan to him when the latter said, “Return the jacket to Mr. Hermes. We’re leaving now.”

This was clearly meant for Larissa.

“Oh, right.” Larissa had just removed Lucas‘ jacket when another was draped over her exposed shoulders.

“Let’s go.” Kevan held her wrist, which was cold as usual. But Larissa surprisingly did not feel uncomfortable with it as she used to. Maybe it was because his jacket was

rather warm.

Even after they had gotten into the car, Lucas stood blankly in the same spot while holding on to his jacket.

Suddenly, he smacked his forehead and exclaimed with delight, “I finally know what’s off about it!”

Mr. Rogers, supposedly a germaphobe who disliked bodily contact, had voluntarily touched Larissa! He knew that their relationship was more than it seemed! Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

The black Maserati sped on the road so fast that it almost blended in with the night.

Larissa subconsciously gripped the seat belt a little tighter and she asked softly, “Are we going to Vivian’s now?”

“No,” Kevan said, and Larissa sighed a little. She planned to go back and try washing the gown. If she could clean it somehow, she could pay less in compensation.

“Is it okay that you came out halfway from the banquet?” she suddenly remembered

to ask.

“No.” Kevan kept his gaze ahead, though his jaw was really right.

Larissa’s heart skipped a beat. “I’m sorry.” Although she apologized, she felt upset as well. It was not as if she made him come. She even called him to stop him from

coming!

Kevan glanced at her to see her lowered head and hands wrung with uncertainty, and suddenly felt annoyed.

“Other than that, don’t you have anything else to say to me?” he asked flatly.

“What else am I supposed to say?” Larissa looked at him blankly.

Kevan nearly choked on his anger, but he could not get mad at her. Struggling to contain his displeasure, he said calmly, “For example, the reason why you went to the hospital at this time of the night, and why you did not inform me when you left the villa?”

The first question was easy to answer. “A nurse called me and asked me to pay for my former husband’s medical fees. She said that today was the deadline.”
