Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Milana was stumped. “That... But she's my sister...”
As a seasoned player in society for several decades, Henrietta had long seen all sorts of underhanded methods women used. She could easily see right through the tricks Zelda had up her sleeves when the latter merely lifted her eyelids.
Looking at Milana, Zelda whined, “Stop standing up for that b*tch! A jinx like her needs to be eliminated as soon as possible. You and Mrs. Rumpley have helped her a lot. Not only have you sent her to study abroad, but you have also invested so much money to support her growing up. You two have been nothing but kind to her. She's the disappointing one who let you all down. She even goes around seducing men!” Her expression turned cold and she continued, “Listen, she is in no way related to me. To protect my love, I must get rid of her!”
Having said that, she sat back in her spot.
Milana feigned a look of hesitance upon hearing that, acting as though she was in a dilemma and that she could not bring herself to do something like that. It wasn't until Zelda's burning rage became visible on her face did she head outside to make the arrangement.
After leaving the private room, Milana immediately cast her gaze toward the direction of the restroom.
Only after seeing no one was around did she walk to a secluded corner to make a call.
The phone rang for a while before it was connected. “Why did it take you so long to answer the phone? Where are you? Are you by some woman's side?” she snapped impatiently.
The man on the other end was obviously no goody-two-shoes either as he retorted in a hostile voice, “Why did you call me? Cut the cr*p and get straight to the point!”
Nonetheless, Milana did not pay too much heed to his attitude. After all, her priority now was to take care of that matter since there was finally a chance. “Axel Burke, I won't waste any time with you. Hurry and get me some of that drug. Get me one with higher and more effective potency so that even chaste women will get worked up once they eat it!”
“When do you need it?”
“Right now. Send it to me within thirty minutes.” Deeply afraid that she would miss the best opportunity, Milana was desperate. “Money isn't an issue. I'll give you twenty million as long as you can complete this task.”
While Axel was still in contemplation, she had already given him the address of the five-star hotel she was at.
The extravagant location dispelled the doubts Axel held about Milana. He believed that someone who could afford to stir trouble at such a grand hotel had spending power and would not back out of the promise. ”All right. I'll be there in twenty minutes.”
“You'd better hurry. Seeing that I'd always count you in when there's money to earn.” It was a nerve- racking moment for Milana as she was worried someone might overhear her conversation. Then, she suddenly recalled something. “By the way, it's been long since you have had some fun with women, right? I'll let you play with the one here. Do whatever you want to her so long as you dare so.”
“Sure!” Axel agreed readily.
When Milana headed back into the private room, Avery had yet to return.
“Everything's been arranged. But because the notice is too short and it's such a rush, my friend is asking for a hundred thousand,” she explained to Zelda.
“Money has never been an issue for me,” the latter calmly answered.
It took a long while before Avery got out of the restroom, and by the time she returned to the private room, her face was so pale she looked like she was in a terrible condition.
“You're back? Come over and take a seat,” Zelda said warmly, her haughty attitude from before was nowhere to be seen. “I didn't know you're Milana's sister. I wouldn't have asked you to come with me if I knew.”
“It's fine,” Avery mumbled. “I'm sorry, Ms. Saunders. But I don't feel well. So I'll be taking my leave first.”
Both Milana and Henrietta started to panic at that. They were worried that their target was about to run away when they were on the verge of success.
“You can't leave.” Zelda grabbed Avery by her arm and scrutinized her. “Since we all know each other, I'll treat you as my friend from now on. And since that's the case, I'll have to rely on you to help pull strings between Cayden and me in the future.”
However, Avery retorted, “I hold a low-ranking position in the company, so I'm afraid I won't have any chance of interacting with Mr. Moore.” Simply put, she was trying to spare herself from being
associated with Cayden. Essentially, Zelda was a lady from a prominent family, and she did not want the woman to have any misunderstanding that would offend her.
“But you're an employee in his company. I'm sure you have a better understanding of him than me.” Zelda pulled Avery onto the seat with a smile. “So just share some stuff you know with me.”
Seeing Avery sit back down, Milana heaved a sigh of relief.
This time, I must get rid of Avery!
Axel was undoubtedly a sicko who had sexual relations with countless women for sixteen years despite being only thirty-two years old. He adored mixing around with people of all trades. Unfortunately, he was infected with AIDS just last year.
Despite so, Milana was delighted to learn about his condition.
Tonight, I must make Avery get infected with it too! There's no way she'll still be able to turn things around when that happens!
While the four women continued chatting for several more minutes in the room, Avery did not intend to stay put any longer.
Taking notice of her expression, Henrietta immediately remarked, “Ery, have you gotten in touch with your dad?”
Avery turned her gaze toward Henrietta and asked, “How is he...”
“Your dad's in poor health lately. Things aren't looking good.” Henrietta had taken the opportunity during the five years while Avery was abroad to seclude her from Leonardo's life. The moment she brought up the topic of his condition, Avery's guard was lowered and her attention was focused on Leonardo's health.
Fifteen minutes later, a waiter came in with their order and placed them on the table.
At the same time, Milana received a text message and headed outside.
When she returned to the sight of the beverages remaining untouched on the table, she quickly picked one up and passed it to Zelda. “Here, have a drink.” Then, she grabbed another glass and gave it to Avery.
Afraid that Avery would be suspicious, Milana put on an indifferent front as she brought her the fruit juice. While she was doing so, she poured a transparent liquid that she had clamped in her palm into the glass without getting noticed.
“Your dad will surely get better,” Zelda uttered as she lifted her glass. “Here, I'll toast with juice instead. Ery, you have to help me keep an eye on Cayden and see if there are any women around him, okay?”
With Leonardo's condition occupying her mind, Avery half-heartedly raised her glass and clinked it with Zelda's before taking a sip of the juice.
“When will my dad return? Can I have his contact number, please?” Avery was rarely so polite. If not for Leonardo, she would not have performed such a pretentious act in front of the mother and daughter duo.
“Your dad changed his number. I, too, am waiting for him to contact me,” Henrietta replied.
Avery grimaced in response. How is it possible that she doesn't know Dad's new number? Seems like the two of them aren't planning to stop until they squeezed him dry!
She picked up the glass of fruit juice and took another gulp, almost as if she was parched from the immense fury bubbling within her.
Following that, she put the glass down and said, “Please—”
The words “excuse me” had yet left her mouth when she suddenly felt a warm sensation traveling up her head before spreading to her chest. The feeling resembled a fire blazing inside her.
Milana held onto her breath as she watched the drug take effect, making Avery lose her reason. The latter started pulling at her collar with one hand and lifted her silky black hair that was laying on her neck with the other.
Catching a glimpse of that sight only left Zelda in immense jealousy. She had never thought Avery was beautiful looking. But upon taking a better look at her in that instant, she realized that the woman had exquisite features, fair complexion, and a slender neck. Each of her actions was demure yet threaded with a tinge of seductiveness. Simply put, there was an inexplicable charisma that would easily attract one's attention toward her.
If even a woman could not resist falling for her, there was no doubt how a man would react.
Avery shook her head profusely, trying her best to retain her composure. While desperately gasping for fresh air, she spotted a mixture of anticipation and anxiety written across Milana and Zelda's faces.
Instantly, she understood what was happening.
Grabbing her bag, Avery swiftly got up and ran outside. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
I mustn't let those b*tches have their way!
Flustered, Milana immediately fished out her phone and rushed out to a quiet corner to give Axel a call. “She's heading downstairs. Go and get her by the hotel's entrance! I'll reward you with ten thousand if you can get into her pants tonight! Another ten thousand if she becomes infected with AIDS! Go quickly!”
