The Divorced Heiress Is Entering a New Marriage

Chapter 121

Chapter 0121

But my lips never made contact with his. Was I really so drunk I could not even find this man’s lips with

I

mine?

I opened my eyes. He had leaned away from me and was looking down.

Oh. My cheeks burned. Of course he doesn’t want to kiss me. Look at me. I just vomited everywhere, I’m sweaty and gross, I probably had nasty breath…God, how could I be so stupid?

“1…I’m sorry,” I stammered. I pulled myself away from his arm that was still around my shoulder, “I should go….” I attempted to stand but to no avail.

“Hazel, no, wait,” Dylan said, helping me back down to sitting. He placed a hand on my knee. “I want more than anything to kiss you, but this is not the right time. You’re drunk, you’re going through a really tough period…”

I nodded, trying to not cry from embarrassment. “I’m gross.” I wiped my eyes quickly with the back of my hand.

He let out a small laugh. He planted a soft kiss on the side of my head. “Oh my God, no. You are not gross,” he tucked some loose hair behind my ear. “You are beautiful.”

My eyes welled up even more at that. I threw my arms around him. He held me for a moment.

“You okay?” He asked after I finally let go.

I nodded and sat back up. I gave him a small smile. “Thank you.”

He stood and helped pull me up to standing. “Come on, let’s get you back to your table so you can dance

some more.”

I laughed. “My table dancing days are far behind me, my friend.”

“Good to hear,” he led me to the door and opened it. Maria spotted us coming in and ran over.

“Where’s Megan and Rachel?” I asked, suddenly realizing I hadn’t seen them in awhile.

Dylan and Maria walked me to a nearby table and Maria and I sat. “Oh, they met a couple guys that wanted to go to Chickadee’s instead so they went with them,” Maria said.

“Ah,” I said, not at all surprised.

“I’ll see you ladies later,” Dylan said. He patted me on the shoulder. “You can call me you know, anytime you need anything.”

I gave him a smile and he turned to exit.

“Speaking of guys you can call…” Maria said once Dylan was outside. “Eric had to go, but he wanted me to give you his number.” She pulled a napkin from her purse and handed it to me.

I grabbed it and read out loud: “Hey winner. I owe you gne dinner date. Call me, Eric.” He had scribbled a phone number across the bottom, “He must be desperate,” I said as I shoved the napkin into my own purse.

“Or maybe you’re just a babe,” Maria shrugged.

I gave her a look. “Look at me right now and say that again,” I said, knowing I looked like a hot mess.

She studied my face and hair and frowned. “I cannot.” She stood. “You ready? I think we’ve done enough damage to this bar tonight.”

She helped me up and out the door. I turned and waved to the bar.

“Bye, bar. I can never step inside of you again.”

“Um, that is actually true,” Maria said. “The bartender asked me to make sure you never come back.”

I gave her a small nod. “Yeah, that tracks.”

Dylan stepped out of the bar and looked around. He wasn’t sure where Logan had gone to; if he had stuck around or if he’d left altogether. He was kind of glad that Logan wasn’t outside, he wanted to punch him for kissing Hazel after all the shit he gave him about her.

He shoved his hands in his pockets and started heading towards his car. As he neared the corner of the street, a shadowy figure stepped out in front of him from the alley way.

Dylan froze, his heart pounding. He raised both hands in the air in surrender. He’d never been mugged before and he wasn’t looking to break that streak.

“What are you doing?” The shadowy figure said as he stepped into the dim streetlight.

“Logan!” Dylan said, clutching his chest. “You asshole, you scared the shit out of me.” Now I have two reasons to punch this guy, he thought bitterly to himself.

“Sorry,” Logan said.

“Yeah, you know what? You are sorry,” Dylan snapped. “I can’t believe you fucking kissed her, man.”

Logan looked shocked. “She told you about that?”

“Yeah, she did. No wonder she’s so fucked up. You kiss her, then tell her to act like nothing happened, then torture the poor girl by checking up on her and following her everywhere she goes.

“I was just worried…”

“Yeah, well, you’re really messing with her head. How is she supposed to forget it happened and move on if you won’t stay out of her life?” Dylan said.

“…I didn’t think about it like that,” Logan admitted.

“No, you didn’t, because you’re a selfish asshat,” Dylan said angrily. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

“Hey,” Logan snapped. “That’s fucking enough. I had a moment of weakness in the hospital, I care about my secretary, I was just trying to look out for her.”

Dylan shook his head a gave a small snort. “Do you really believe that bullshit you’re spewing everywhere?”

“It is not bullshit!”

“Okay,” Dylan pushed past him. “You call me when you’re ready to admit that you have feelings for her.”

Logan glared at Dylan’s back as he walked away, until Dylan finally turned a corner and was no longer in glaring range. He angrily kicked an empty can that was on the sidewalk in front of him.

He turned back towards the bar and saw Maria and Hazel walking out of it. They started walking straight towards him. In a panic, he ran back into the alley way he’d been in earlier.

“Hey, do you want to go to Chickadee’s?” He heard Hazel say as they passed by him.

“What, are you you looking to get banned from two different bars tonight?” Maria asked..

Their voices faded as they walked farther past him. He peeked out of the alley way, but he didn’t see them anymore. He pulled his phone out of his pocket. He opened up the message thread he had with Hazel, typed, deleted it, typed again, then pressed send. He sighed as he made his way back to his own

car.

I heard my phone ding from inside my purse as Maria helped me into the car. Once she strapped me she helped dig my phone out of my purse. Her eyes grew wide when she saw the screen.

I groaned. “Don’t tell me. Logan?”

“You are very good at guessing, my friend,” she said, handing me the phone.

1 opened the message:

“Hey, Hazel. Dylan helped me realize why you’ve been so upset with me lately. I’m sorry, I was concerned about you, but I see how I was just making things harder on you. I’ll stay out of your business from now on.

Oh, and take tomorrow off. I have a feeling you’ll need it.”
