Chapter 50: 50
Chapter 50: 50
Week 1
The first week was pretty much a lur. I started working with interns as well. They were all nice,
professional and I even made some friends along the way. The good thing about my schedule was that
I only worked on Fridays and Saturdays. What bugged met the most was the way people treated me. I
heard so many voices telling me what they think of me behind my back. On my first week, while I was
being toured in the office and gave me a background on the process of the business, there were
women behind their cubicles who spoke ill of me. I didn’t mind it all.
Week 2
There is less gossip about me or maybe it dies down because hey, I only come to work on Fridays
anyway. Good thing about it is that I get to spend more time with Elliot as opposed to me just staying Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
home and waiting for him. I was then given a couple of projects to work on and that I needed to present
by Saturday the next week. That Friday evening, I stayed at the office at until nine in the evening. Good
thing Elliot had a meeting and so we went home together.
Week 3
I finished my presentation that Saturday afternoon and got to meet with my co interns after that. We
discussed how the workflow was pretty light between us and in the future, we could hopefully work the
same manner. When we were done, we just got a quick cup of coffee and then each of us parted ways.
I came back to my desk and ran over my schedule for the week. I then decided to finish three papers
that are due on Thursday. It took me a couple of hours to finish but when I did. I was able to free my
schedule the whole week next week and then allot that time to study for two quizzes. It was only seven
in the evening and so I decided to create a reviewer for my quizzes. I finish at around ten in the
evening. I stretch my arms out a rest a little. I scroll through my phone and I hadn’t noticed that Elliot
left me a couple of messages, asking me what time I was coming home. I text him that I was just
finishing up something and I would be on my way home. Once I am able to rest, I pack up my personal
laptop and switch off the company computer. I double checked my schedule to make sure there was
nothing I would need to write and submit. Once I packed everything up, I walked out of the office and I
see Elliot waiting for me by the concierge.
I smile at Elliot, “Hey, you”
He plants a kiss on my cheek, “Hey, I was a little worried you weren’t answering the phone so I decided
to pick you up”
I bite my lower lip, “Thanks, Mr. Roommate”
He chuckles, “We didn’t have a chance to actually use that”
Elliot and I came home to the apartment dark. Elliot stops me from walking further. He switches on the
flashlight from his phone and on the floor, we see out two bodyguards.
My eyes widen and I scream out, “Oh my god! Jesus Christ!” I panic but I was able to call the police. I
tell them my address and Elliot walk towards the fuse. He pumps a couple of hands and in a couple of
second the lights come back. The living room was a mess. I could hear scratching and barking from our
bedroom upstairs. Elliot runs towards the sound and we see Sandy all panicky and restless. Elliot then
started calling the security agency and the police. My heart was pounding and hands were sweaty. I
didn’t know what to do. I started to feel dizzy but I was able to compose myself. I run to the fridge and
get a chocolate bar and some water.
“Oh my god, Elliot! Are they dead?” Elliot then walks over them to check a pulse.
Elliot looks up at me, “Yeah, I’ll call the paramedics”
“Oh my god, Elliot. What happened?!” I asked, not knowing what else to do right now. Elliot was quiet
but composed. He then looked up to the corners of the house and saw that the cameras were busted.
Elliot looks around and went to check the security room at the end of the loft. The security room was a
mess as well. There were no tracks left that would lead us to the criminals.
A couple of minutes, the police dings on our floor and behind them is the paramedics. According to
them, this was a possible inside job. They started interviewing Elliot and the paramedics started to
check up on me. According to them I needed to eat because my sugar was fairly low. About three
hours later, after the police have interviewed me and Elliot, the police bit their goodbyes and we made
sure that all medical expenses and treatments that our body guards needed were covered.
There was broken glass on the floor, some water and a couple of unused frames were broken. Elliot
called housekeeping to come in tomorrow early. Elliot just looked at me and I could see worry in his
eyes.
I was looking blankly at the floor, “Elliot, I---”
“I know. I’ll fix it, I promise” He says. A couple of minutes later, food arrives. Elliot must’ve ordered while
I got lost in my own thoughts. My thought is all over the place, I did not know, for a moment, which was
true which wasn’t. I could feel tears rolling down my face. I know this is all too much for someone who
just got married. I know Elliot has not been completely honest but I’m trying to respect his space.
Elliot escorted me to the bedroom where he planned on having dinner. He ordered a not so fancy
dinner and added ice cream and chocolates. Elliot locks our door and snuggles next to me.
“You have to eat” he whispers
I looked at Elliot, “I know” I then swallowed, “Elliot, we need to move or like stay at a hotel for the
meantime. I can’t stay here” I tell him.
Elliot nods, “I’ll pack the bags”
That night, Elliot and I went to Marina Bay and we got the Presidential suite for the whole stay. We
brought Sandy and because of a pretty influential friends from the board of directors, I Sandy was
allowed inside the suite. Elliot’s parents called us as we tried to settle in the suite. I took a really long
shower and snuggled under sheets to sleep. I closed my eyes and little did I know, waking up the next
morning was the beginning of something that I would not forget in my lifetime.
