The Killer Queen

Chapter 263

Beckett had just brought Elam back from the research facility when he decided to meet up with Jaent. They sat down in the conference room at Rising Glory Group’s headquarters for a lengthy chat, all about Elara

Beckett wanted Jacob to seriously consider Flam’s situation

I called Mr. Pollack her solely for Elara’s sake. Elara might be a Schnabel by name, but she’s also a Pollack. If Mr. Pollack can’t treat her right, just give us a heads up. The Schnabel family can take good care of her

Jacob was only made aware of Elara’s ordeal at the lab through Beckett. He had thought that bring in a different lab from his own, Elara could focus solely on her research without distractions. Little did he know, she was still being harassed!

“I look into it, and make sure Elara doesn’t suffer any injustice. As for anything else… I’d like to meet Elara before making any decisions”

When it came to matters conceming Elara, his hands were tied.

Beckett agreed, and they shifted the conversation to Elara’s childhood, a bittersweet moment for Jacob.

After Beckett left for another meeting. Jacobs sat alone, hands covering his face, his shoulders shaking:

When Elara received Jacob’s call, she was completely flustered!

Holding onto her stuffed toy, she was tom.

Noella, ever so considerate, asked, “Do you want to see him? If not, forget it. But if you do, then let’s go.”

Elara sat up in bed with a start!

“Maybe you and Mr. Pollack should come with me?”

Noella raised an eyebrow. While she expected to accompany Elara, why did Palmer need to join them?

“Think about it. You’re on my side, and Mr. Pollack represents the Pollack family. It’s only fair we each have someone.”

Besides, having Noella was mainly for moral support. But considering her sister’s naivety and kindness, what if Jacob managed to sway her?

Noella was speechless. It was indeed a well–thought–out plan. The idea of representing families in such a manner was new to Noella.

Elara had covered all bases, patting Noella on the shoulder. “It’s also a chance to see who Mr. Pollack chooses between his family and you. If he chooses you, it shows he’s heartless. If not, then he’s not the man for you!”

How straightforward.

Noella couldn’t help but twitch at the comer of her eyes. “Elara, are you planning to go all out against Jacob?”

Was it really

coming to a point where she had to call in reinforcements?

“No, no, the most important thing right now.” Elara pulled the covers over her head. “is to sleep! We can worry about those troubles tomorrow morning. Remember to bring Mr. Pollack, Noells. If I push Jacob too far and he wants to hit me, Mr. Pollack better step in, or I’m not marrying my sister off to him.”

Noella sighed in resignation.

So, Elara’s real intention all along was to use Palmer as muscle? She sure had quite the imagination! Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

The next morning, Elara came downstairs with bags under her eyes, joining the Schnabel family already gathered for breakfast.

Marcel glanced at her. “Elara, were you up all night gaming?”

Yawning. Elara took her seat. “No, just couldn’t sleep, thinking about meeting Jacob.”

Sexton paused from slathering his toast with peanut butter. “You’re planning to see him? It might be good to talk things out. Remember, I’m always on your side.”

Ever since Elara returned from Phoenix Lab, she hadn’t seen Jacob.

After transferring all his assets and shapes to Elara upon learning that Sexton had acknowledged her, Jacob spent most of his time in

the lab.

Sexton was still worried about how Elara would feel upon seeing Jacob again.

Responding to Sexton’s concerned gaze, Elara reassured him, “it’s okay, Grandpa. I’m taking Noella and Palmer with me!”

“Ah, good, good. Jacob won’t stand a chance against Palmer. If he gives you any trouble, let Palmer handle him! If anything gets broken,

I will pay for it. And if Palmer doesn’t back you up, you just let me know. I’ll take care of him and Jacob together!”

Elera promised with a print

Marcel scoffed. “With your frail body? Who could you possibly beat? Just don’t end up hurting yourself; that’d be the real joke”

The banter between the two elders was a usual scene in the Schnabel family.

Noella noticed Beckett coming downstairs, still in his pajamos, with dark circles particularly noticeable.

“Good morning. Beckett. Did you not sleep well?”

“Thanks for asking Noella. Just stayed up late reviewing financial reports”

Jasper was there, his flamboyant shirt barely buttoned, revealing his pale collarbone and seductive Adam’s apple. Beckett couldn’t help

but wince at the sight.

“Jasper, you’re a lawyer. Dress appropriately.”

“Beckett, I’m not in court today. Just meeting a client to discuss a case. Doesn’t matter what I wear”

Except for court days, Jasper’s wardrobe was notoriously flashy.

He tugged at his collar, flaunting the embroidery Noella had done for him, leaving her somewhere between amusement and dismay.

Though Azure’s handmade embroidery was pricey, it wasn’t something one would expect a high–profile lawyer like Jasper to cherish so much. But then again, it was all because her brothers loved her dearly!

Jasper leaned back in his chair, fixing Beckett with a questioning look.

“Beckett, are you seriously not going to reach out to my ex–sister–in–law to clear the air? It’s such a shame how things ended between you two.”

Without looking up, Beckett replied, “And what? You expect me to reach out to a married woman for what exactly? To meddle in her marriage, wreck her home, or be the guy sneaking around in the shadows?”

Jasper just shrugged his shoulders. “Guess that’s off the table then. Some things just aren’t meant to be.”

“Anyway, I’ve got my hands full with some tricky international partnerships for the company right now. I need you to take care of Noella’s college stuff in the meantime. Give me a call if you need anything. I’ll text you Noella’s teacher’s contact info later.”

“Awesome!” Jasper was more than happy to spend more time with Noella since Beckett had been monopolizing all her time until now, It looked like he was finally going to get his chance!

After breakfast, Jasper hopped into his flashy red sports car, leaving Serene Haven in a blur as he whistled and dialed the number Beckett had sent him.

“Is this Jasper? It’s Darcy. I’m at the café we agreed on. Can I get you anything to drink?”

Darcy’s greeting caught Jasper off guard! He quickly checked the contact info again, realizing it was actually the client he had arranged to meet today!

“No, that’s alright. Ill be there in a flash, Ms. Darcy. Just hang tight!”
