Chapter 0525
The doctor smiled kindly as if he didn't notice anything
"Mrs. Hawk, your head may still feel a little dizzy today, but it's nothing to worry about. After a light meal to regain some strength, you should take a walk and get some fresh air. You'll be feeling fully recovered soon."
As he spoke, he stepped back. "I'll go check on the meal in the kitchen. If everything's ready. I'll have it brought to you."
Nicholas gave a slight nod, and the doctor quickly left the room.
Now that we were alone, I couldn't help but feel a little awkward being held so close by him. I pulled his hands away, shifting to the side. I then sat up and fixed my gaze on him.
"Nicholas, we're divorced. Don't let anyone call me 'Mrs. Hawk' anymore."
Once bitten, twice shy. Although I had confirmed my marital status when I went abroad, I was still uneasy. I feared that the painful memories might disappear like a dream, with no evidence left behind.
Nicholas let out a dry, mocking chuckle, his gaze drifting. He wouldn't dare lie to me again.
I didn't understand the meaning behind his faint laugh, but I knew I shouldn't stay in this uncomfortable atmosphere.
"Where's Tabitha? We should go."
"Go?"
Seeing me finally awake, he could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Yet, I talked about leaving. This was my home. Where could I go?
"Ariana, you've got a real talent for burning bridges."
Nicholas had been leaning tiredly against the bed's headboard. With that, he suddenly straightened up and grabbed my wrist with a firm grip.
His dark eyes locked onto me. "Need me to remind you how you cried and begged me to take you away that night?
I felt a shiver crawl down my spine as I met his gaze. I wasn't sure if it was because of embarrassment or frustration, but I didn't want to remember how miserable I had been that night.
I just wanted to resolve everything quickly and take Tabitha abroad. But with Christopher's and Claudia's interference, now they couldn't blame me for settling old scores.
Thinking of them, my voice turned cold. "Where's Tabitha?"
Nicholas's eyes darkened, irritation flashing across his gaze. "Tossed in the trash this morning. By now, the garbage truck has probably taken her to the incineration plant."
"Nicholas, are you even human?" I broke free from his grip, frantic. "Let go of me! I'm going to find Tabitha!
His grip tightened, his lips pressed into a thin line as he remained silent. He couldn't lose his temper with me, but seeing the way my eyes widened with panic made his heart ache.
I glared at him, grinding my teeth in frustration. He was sitting there, quiet, and it only made me more furious.
Although I guessed he was likely bluffing. Tabitha wasn't like other children. I couldn't let anything happen to her.
I was on the verge of tears. "Nicholas, what did you do to Tabitha?"
The strength difference between us was undeniable.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
As we were on the bed, Nicholas didn't worry about hurting me. He only had to exert a little force to shift my body and pin me down under him.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he leaned down, his breath brushing my cheek. The warmth of his breath made me shiver.
His gaze was burning with desire, but how could he think about that now?
"Nicholas, you're crazy!"
His deep voice murmured words that barely seemed to matter.
"I'm not crazy. I just don't care. She is not my daughter-she can go wherever she wants.
He finished his sentence, propping himself up slightly. He looked at me with his dark eyes, as if trying to unearth some hidden truth.
