Chapter 633
Chapter 633
Bernard was quick to take advantage of the situation!
Hera suspected Bernard was doing this on purpose, trying to coax her into saying something like that. But she was glad she managed to cheer him up. Being in a relationship was sometimes more challenging than studying.
"By the way, any updates on the photos I asked you to investigate?" Hera suddenly remembered.
Bernard hesitated. "Not yet, but I did find information about Linda undergoing surgery."
Hera's eyes lit up. "Let me see."
Linda had a scar on her neck from her surgery. Hera had stayed up all night looking into it, but all she could find was that Linda had a tumor in her vocal cord and was diagnosed at Reinland Hospital, but she couldn't find the surgical records.
"It's on my phone," Bernard said, his hands still covered in flour. He stepped aside to let her retrieve it herself.
Hera reached into his pocket, her hand brushing against his thigh through the thin fabric, but she didn't find the phone.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
She looked up and met Bernard's amused gaze. She immediately withdrew her hand, realizing he had tricked her.
Bernard chuckled at how cute Hera's embarrassed look was and teased, "It's not like you haven't touched me before. Why are you suddenly shy?"
Hera's pride flared. She grabbed him by the collar and warned, "I advise you not to play with fire, or else..." Bernard swallowed hard and cocked a brow. "Or else what?"
A sly grin tugged at the corners of Hera's lips. "Or else you'll have to put out the fire you started!"
Her hand darted into his other pocket and swiftly retrieved his phone. She spun around gracefully and moved around the dining table.
Bernard felt speechless.
Hera unlocked his phone and found the files he had mentioned. It was a series of photos showing the consent forms for Linda's vocal cord surgery from 11 years ago. The lead surgeon was Philip Chime.
No wonder Hera couldn't find the records last night. These were physical documents, part of a surgery with a non- disclosure agreement. That was why the Chime family didn't upload them to the system.
"Where's the original agreement?" Hera asked.
"In Reinland Hospital's archive room, Section A, row 18, shelf 7, slot 35," Bernard replied. Being able to tell its precise location meant that Bernard or his men had been there.
"Thanks." Hera forwarded the photos to her phone and left for the study.
Bernard watched her retreating figure, tempted to tell her to stop investigating, but he stopped himself.
In the afternoon, Hera was waiting in the clinic for Xavier to arrive. Instead of him and Gemma, an unexpected guest appeared.
"Hello, what's your name? Do you have an appointment?" Wayne didn't recognize the visitor and asked.
The man was dressed in a suit. Although his hair had grayed, he looked to be in good health, with a face etched by time but still showing signs of his former good looks.
"My name is Augustus Chime. I don't have an appointment, and I'm not here for a consultation. I'm here to see Dr. Youngworth and the miracle doctor," Augustus replied calmly.
Hera heard his name and glanced up. She wondered why he was here.
"Let him in, Wayne." Hera sighed.
Augustus turned toward Hera upon hearing her voice and instantly recognized her. Smiling, he offered his hand." It's been a while, Dr. Miracle. You didn't attend this year's international medical research conference. We missed
you."
Graden had invited Hera to the conference, but she had declined due to her busy schedule.
Hera was petting Tiramisu in her arms and didn't shake his hand. Instead, she asked indifferently, "Is that why you came to see me?"
