Chapter 199
Eve stared at Vincent in shock, as if she couldn’t believe her ears. “What are you planning?”
When did her little brother start scheming against even children?
She lowered her voice, speaking almost in a whisper. “Have you lost your mind?”
“Milo?” Holcomb inquired, briefly interjecting.
It was clear that Holcomb was the type to justify any means for his ends.
Rhett’s capabilities were well–known within the FitzGerald Group. Holcomb had put Rhett on ‘leave‘ to intimidate him, but it backfired when the company started to falter without him.
Now, with Rhett using this as an excuse not to return, Holcomb was getting desperate.
And he was ready to do anything to get Rhett back.
“Dad… The Gladstones haven’t been looking after Milo much recently, and I can’t keep up. Milo refuses to go home, he’s always staying with Summer at Rhett’s house,” Eve said quietly.
In fact, on the day she got drunk and forgot to pick up Milo, she was surprised that Rhett
had taken the initiative to look after Milo and even brought him home, where Milo had such a good time he didn’t want to leave.
In Eve’s eyes, Rhett had always been aloof, as if he was above her and Vincent.
By extension, she thought he’d feel the same about Milo.
But, to her surprise, Milo had taken a real shine to his uncle.
He even cried, not wanting to leave.
This showed that Rhett had genuinely put his heart into caring for Milo.
It was unexpected for Eve and, in some small way, it touched her. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Let Milo lure that little brat Summer out, and keep the Collins family from finding him for a while. If something happens, Garner is bound to call Kristin, and if Kristin comes back, Rhett will naturally follow,” Vincent strategized.
“Vincent!” Eve snapped, annoyed. “You’re using a child, Milo is only five, what are you thinking?”
“It’s not using him, just letting him take Summer out to play. Our guys will be watching discreetly, nothing will happen,” Vincent retorted, frowning.
“I don’t agree,” Eve said firmly. She wouldn’t let her son be part of such a scheme.

Regardless of the outcome, if Rhett found out, how could Milo ever face his uncle again?
“We’ll do as Vincent suggests, Holcomb stated with authority, clearly in favor of the plan to bring Rhett back.
Holcomb burst out angrily, “I think that bitch has Rhett completely under her spell!”
“That Kristin is nothing but trouble. Look what she did to our Vincent…” Nicola’s eyes reddened, her performance convincing. “She’s a curse, I tell you. Everyone who gets involved with her ends up in a mess.”
She continued, “The Turners suffered because of her, losing their own daughter for over two decades, leaving Ruby sick and in pain. And look at the Haywoods; Adrienne is so scared by what Kristin did to
her that she dreads coming back to the country. If those alleged victims come after her, Adrienne might even face jail time.”
Nicola looked furious. “Kristin is a scourge, out for revenge. The Turners suffered greatly at her hands, despite raising her for years without a single word of gratitude.”
Vincent’s brow furrowed, but he said nothing in Kristin’s defense.
These people knew only of the current plights of the Turner and Haywood families, not of the far worse deeds they had inflicted upon Kristin in the past.
“The Haywoods are reaping what they sowed. Adrienne has been a terror since she was young. I know of things far worse, like when she blinded a classmate in elementary school. She’s deserved what’s come to her, and her inability to return home has little to do with Kristin. Does she really have that much influence?” Eve spoke up for what seemed like justice.
Nicola glared at Eve but remained silent.
After a long pause, Vincent spoke. “Eve, I’ll go pick up Milo tonight.”
Eve frowned. “Vincent, think this through.”
Although she disliked Kristin and was insanely jealous, even willing to watch others bully her without intervening, involving children was where she drew the line.
to worry s
“You don’t need it,” Vincent said, rising to leave the FitzGerald family home.
He had his own agenda to climb to the top and crush Rhett beneath him.
–
He was determined to drive Rhett out of the FitzGerald Group once and for all.
When that day came, he wanted to see what Rhett could possibly do, stripped of his pride and his lofty perch.
Silvergrove City, the man–made island.
This area was a yet–to–be–opened resort, boasting stunning scenery and undisturbed quietude.
12-41
At the island’s heart lay a luxurious hotel, constructed but not yet in service
The resort’s butler drove Kristin around in a sightseeing cart, introducing the landscape Miss, have you heard of this place before?
Kristin looked around in amazement, shaking her head. Tve heard reports about it being an upcoming resort area under ByteSpark Technologies
“That’s right, that’s right, the butler said with a smile, guiding Kristin towards the hotel.
Here, the accommodations were designed in a homestay style, with staggered villas on the first and second floors, expansive garden yards, and open rooftop gardens that twinkled with lights at night. The backdrop was a beach and the ocean, stunningly beautiful.
It was the perfect setting for newly wedded couples or a romantic wedding venue.
In recent years, Bytespark Technologies had emerged as a force to be reckoned with, quickly outpacing the FitzGerald Group in both real estate and venture capital investments. To avoid getting
overshadowed, the FitzGerald Group had taken a step back from these sectors, treading lightly
Kristin had done her homework on ByteSpark Technologies. She was scouting for formidable allies to secure a fallback plan for Phett, seeking partners like the Lewis and Haywood families–powerhouses that even the likes of Holcomb wouldn’t dare to mess with.
But ByteSpark Technologies remained an enigma among them all.
Despite her best efforts, Kristin had yet to uncover the true identity of the person pulling the string
behind ByteSpark Rumors circulated in the business circles–some speculated it was backed by a Chinese–American entrepreneur, others whispered about foreign investors using a figurehead. The true mastermind remained a mystery.
ByteSpark’s meteoric rise over the past five years had turned heads. They were the dark horse that had burst onto the scene, stunning their rivals.
“Kristin, come over here,” called Rhett from the poolside at the hotel, waving at her while sporting his swim trunks.
Kristin hopped off the tour cart and raced over, her excitement palpable. “Mr. FitzGerald! This is ByteSpark Technologies‘ exclusive resort that’s not yet open to the public!*
Seeing Kristin’s delight, Rhett couldn’t help but smile. “‘”Yeah.”
“This place is still off–limits to outsiders. I heard the chairman of Influx Enterprise wanted his daughter’s wedding to be held here, and even he couldn’t get a yes from ByteSpark’s president!” Kristin was practically jumping up and down with hope.
“Who told you that? It’s all just gossip,” Rhett chuckled. “Come on, let’s go for a swim.”
But Kristin was too distracted to think about swimming. “Mr. FitzGerald! Do you know the president of ByteSpark Technologies?”
If Rhett could establish a connection with the president of ByteSpark and secure a project. collaboration, it could shield him from being ousted from the FitzGerald Group by
Holcomb.
Rhett looked at Kristin and pondered for a moment. “I suppose… I know him.”
A glint of joy sparkled in Kristin’s eyes. The resort was rumored to be the private. sanctuary of ByteSpark’s president, who had declared it off–limits until after his own wedding. If Rhett had brought her here, they must be on good terms–perhaps even close friends.
“Mr. FitzGerald, do you think we could discuss a project collaboration with ByteSpark Technologies?” Kristin asked, her enthusiasm sending her sprinting for her tablet, ready to dive into work mode.
