Chapter 967: Ecstatic Joy
Xander, abiding by his principle of welcoming single guests with a smile, responded, “Just me.”
The beauty playfully touched his shoulder and swayed her graceful body to the music, moving closer and closer. Xander didn’t resist, smiling generously.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” the beauty asked with a smile.
Xander answered, “If I had a girlfriend, would I have the time to hang out here?”
The beauty’s smile blossomed, “I just like your honesty.”
In a corner booth, Verda leaned back on the sofa, holding a glass of wine in one hand and casually draping an arm, sipping the wine as she watched Xander in the dance floor.
Xander, tall and broad-shouldered, stood out in the crowd.
Inside the dance floor, the beauty kept pressing against him, whispering in his ear, “There’s a hotel across the street, want to go together?”
This girl, not seeking money, just straightforwardly interested in him.
Playing along anyway.
Xander raised an eyebrow, unfazed.
He smiled, “Can I refuse?”
The beauty’s expression faltered for a brief moment, then returned to normal. “Are you afraid?”
Just as Xander was about to reply, Verda walked over at some point, disdainfully pinching the woman’s collar, “This man is taken.”
The beauty turned to look at Verda, who was scanning her with a critical gaze.
Seeing her expensive attire, the woman gritted her teeth, but being pulled away like that made it hard to save face. She said, “Are you lying?”
Turning to Xander, she inquired, “Hey, handsome, is this your girlfriend?”
Xander glanced at Verda and replied, “Yes.”
Feeling embarrassed, the beauty didn’t persist.
She turned and sashayed into the dance floor, apparently looking for other targets.
As the woman walked away, Xander quickly explained, “I just didn’t know how to reject her.”
“Aren’t you having fun? Why reject her?” Verda smirked, chin up.
Xander shrugged, “Just having some fun, not actually looking to hook up. I’m also quite picky, you know?”
“Is that so? Couldn’t tell,” Verda teased, “I thought you were open to anyone.”
Xander glanced at her but said nothing, walking out.
Verda followed him out of the bar, “Leaving already?”
Xander said, “Tired, going back to sleep.”
And he left.
Verda watched Xander’s retreating figure, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
Before, most blind date prospects were wealthy gentlemen, not necessarily good-looking.
But later on, the criteria were lowered, yet she still couldn’t find anyone she liked among those capable and strong-willed suitors. They were too aloof, too servile, or too artificially mature, none quite to her taste.
But Xander’s authenticity piqued her interest.
She made her way to her red sports car.
Sitting in the car, she took out her phone and called Alf Hicks.
It took a while for him to pick up, sounding impatient, “Who is it?”
Seems like he was sleeping.
Verda cleared her throat, “It’s me.”
“So late,” Alf Hicks asked, “What’s the rush? Can’t let me have my beauty sleep?”
“I just wanted a contact,” she chuckled, “I’m actually quite interested in the blind date you arranged for me.”
Alf Hicks suddenly woke up completely, sitting up in bed, “You’re serious?”
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” Verda started the engine, “If you don’t want to tell me, forget it.”
“Hey hey,” Alf Hicks stopped her, “I’ll send it to your phone.”
“OK.” Verda hung up, then tossed her phone onto the passenger seat.
She sped off, crossing the road like the wind.
…
At the hotel.
Xander was already asleep.
…
In another room, Evan was giving Sasha a bath.
He was worried about Sasha being alone in the bathroom, afraid she might slip.
Sasha lay comfortably in the bathtub as Evan massaged her.
“Will you have trouble sleeping later?”
Sasha, eyes closed in relaxation, replied, “I can’t say, but you’ll have to accompany me.”
Evan, helpless but indulgent, said, “You’re torturing me.”
“Why don’t you get pregnant then? Shall I be the cheap mommy?” Sasha turned her head and opened her eyes, looking at him.
Evan, “…”
Suddenly, he smiled, lifting her wet face with his hand, “If I could get pregnant, wouldn’t you be the dad then?”
Sasha laughed.
A phone rang outside.
Evan said, “I’ll take the call.”
Sasha let him be.
After all, a call at this time might be urgent, otherwise, they wouldn’t have called at this hour.
Evan went outside to answer the phone.
Seeing the caller ID, he raised an eyebrow, pressed the answer button, and held it to his ear, “No, the two didn’t get along.”
“How do you know?”
“They couldn’t stand each other the moment they met, almost turned into an argument.”
Alf Hicks understood. Just as he thought, that spoiled rich girl wouldn’t change her ways, she wasn’t interested in Xander, right?
Just wanted to keep arguing with him?
That conceited rich girl definitely didn’t want to be with Xander.
“Nothing, forget it. If they can’t get along, that’s it. Hadn’t held much hope anyway. Alright, I got it.”
“Mm.” Evan hung up, sighing involuntarily.
Seems like finding a partner for Xander was quite difficult.
…
Today was Orion and Luna’s wedding night. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Due to Luna’s condition, the two simply embraced and slept, not engaging in anything else.
Orion hugged her, “You must be tired today, right?”
Luna nodded.
“Then why can’t you sleep?” Orion gently asked.
With her eyes open, Luna replied, “I don’t know, maybe I’m just excited.”
“Is it because of getting married?” Orion inquired.
Luna turned, their breaths mingling, eyes locked.
Orion kissed her gently.
Blushing, Luna lowered her gaze.
Orion caressed her cheek.
Even though Luna hadn’t fully recovered yet and still had some psychological barriers, she could now peacefully coexist with Orion without any triggering behavior.
“Let’s add a protective fence to the bed so that Luna can sleep in our room, is that okay?” Luna asked.
Orion embraced her, “Whatever you say is law.”
Luna smiled, “Thank you.”
“Oh, do you really need to thank me?” Orion looked at her, “What’s our relationship?”
“Married.”
“Exactly, you have the final say in everything at home. You’re the lady of the house, and Star is your daughter, you have the right to decide where she sleeps.”
Luna willingly wrapped her arm around his waist.
That simple gesture filled Orion with ecstatic joy.
…
In the early morning.
Luna woke up, seeing Orion’s sleeping face, she reached out to touch his cheek.
Perhaps it tickled, and Orion slowly opened his eyes.
Luna quickly pulled her hand back, “Did I disturb you?”
Orion took her hand and placed it on his face, “Not at all, Luna, I feel very happy now, being able to wake up and see you.”
