Chapter 1328 Lend A Hand
Chapter 1328 Lend A Hand
Benjamin snorted and didn't believe Shaun's nonsense at all. His hearing was exceptionally good. “Don't feed him too much, Mdm. Mary. His stomach hasn't been doing well lately!”
“Huh? I had no idea!” Mary genuinely believed it and quickly withdrew the dessert she was about to hand to Shaun.
Shaun quickly stood up and grabbed the dessert, grinning. “Don't listen to his nonsense. My stomach is perfectly fine! The one with the bad stomach is clearly him!”
Benjamin shot a glance at Shaun, causing the latter to shut his mouth. He slightly turned his body away, starting to eat with his back against Benjamin, one bite at a time.
Arissa looked at them with amusement and invited, “Would you like to eat something?”
Benjamin sat down next to her and said, “I'm going to the company. If you need anything, just ask them for help!”
Arissa nodded. “Understood. See you later!”
Benjamin gently stroked her hair. “I'll be going out then.”
“Right!” Arissa nodded, recalling his promise to pick up the children from school at noon. “Do you still have time to pick up the kids?”
Benjamin glanced at his wristwatch, noting that there was less than an hour before the children would be out of school. He still had to go to the office, and he was certain he wouldn't make it back and forth
in time.
“I probably won't be able to pick them up. Let them come back on their own!” With bodyguards taking care of them, Benjamin wasn't worried about the issue. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“I'm free, so I can go pick them up in a bit!” Shaun quickly spoke up, eager to show how considerate he was in front of Benjamin.
Benjamin glanced at him, warning, “After picking them up, come straight home!”
“I promise!” Shaun assured while raising his hand. “I'll come back as soon as I meet them!”
Once everything was arranged, Benjamin then went to the company.
Shaun breathed a sigh of relief. He dared not even breathe heavily in front of Benjamin as he needed the latter's help.
“You're that scared of him?” Arissa teased.
Darius and Mary stared at Shaun, grinning. Meanwhile, Shaun chuckled and shook his head. “I've been scared of him since I was a kid!”
Benjamin was not someone to be messed with.
“Arissa, could you do me a favor?” Shaun sat next to Arissa with an ingratiating smile.
His comical appearance somewhat resembled Kingsley. Arissa chuckled. “What do you need help
with?”
Shaun gathered his thoughts before speaking. “Benjamin treats you so well, so he will definitely listen to you. Could you please persuade him not to cut off my funding?”
Arissa chuckled, teasing Shaun. “Why didn't you call him nicely just now? If you had, he might have gone soft on you!”
Shaun smiled bitterly. “Benjamin is doing it on purpose. It doesn't matter what I call him. None of it works!”
“Is that fund important to you?” Arissa asked while munching on nuts.
“Absolutely, the returns from this research will be exponential. We have already completed half of it. The sudden cut-off of funds from Benjamin is a heavy blow to us... Once this medicine is completed, we won't have to worry about serious illnesses anymore...”
It seems that Benjamin really has a knack for handling people. Arissa then listened to Shaun talking about the research project.
When he finished, she found the project beneficial both in terms of social contribution and medical protection. hence, she said, “I understand. When he's in a good mood, I'll try to persuade him!”
Upon hearing Arissa's words, Shaun was reassured.
“I can't thank you enough, Arissa! What would you like to eat tonight? I'll show off my cooking skills!” Shaun asked Arissa with a smile.
Arissa looked at him curiously. “You can cook?”
“Sure, but I'm a bit less skilled than Benjamin!” After all, his expertise lay in medicine, not in cooking.
Edwin walked in, overheard Shaun's words, and suggested, “How about you be my assistant for dinner tonight, Mr. Bailey? Since Mrs. Graham is discharged today, why don't we invite Mr. Watts and Mr. Patterson to join us for dinner, too?”
Arissa liked the idea.
“In that case, you should go buy some more vegetables, Edwin! We should celebrate properly!” Darius declared.
“Yes, Old Mr. Graham!” Edwin replied with a smile. Immediately, he set off to prepare. If he started any later, he wouldn't be able to keep up.
